I think the cheaters will copy sone scheme that was effective against the Rams. Maybe that defense that Miami pulled on us. McVay needs a plan B and a plan C to adjust.

The best way to beat the Patriots is to do the unexpected. Here's my idea: let Hendo and/or Akers play the Faulk role. Line them up outside as WRs and let them run routes, or fake the run, and dump short passes and let them get in space. My reasoning:

1. It's not typically how this Rams team plays, so the Pats may not be ready for it
2. Revenge for Super Bowl 36 when the Pats keyed on Faulk and mugged him off the line of scrimmage.

My guess is they will try to take away Kupp/Woods tomorrow, so let's hit them with our young stud RBs. Bonus: bring Faulk as a special guest in the owner's box to watch and pan the camera on him as the Rams RBs get chunk yards

Akers is going to throw a TD vs. the Pats. A-Robinson is going to have a coming out party.

Goff is going to need to be deadly throwing the intermediate routes, and will need 1-2 passes over 20 yards. Everett & Higbee will need to be active

Just play defense. Idc if we win this game 2-0. Our defense is light years above their offense. I don’t think cams good at all. I doubt he can outrun AD at this point in his career.

McVay is 0-1 vs Hoodie. So im not sure consistently beats McVay is accurate.

Win Thursday and he is 1-1 vs him....

You're right, the sample is very small. It's more that the way we lose to the 49ers reminds me of the way we lost to NE in the SB. They manage to throw us off our game and take away what we are good at. I think it's a coaching thing, and I think Belichick is going to do it again. I sure hope I'm wrong.

If Goff doesn't float the end zone pass it gets there before the defense. I think the other one was clearly pass interference

True, but as I recall, both hit Cooks in the hands. You have to catch those. I think Kupp does. Gronk made the catch that Cooks didn't and it was the difference.

I could be wrong though, I only watched that game live. Thats the only one from 2018 that I refused to watch more than once.

The Rams' lack of a deep threat WR came up glaring against a few defenses. Others don't have the overall talent to take advantage (Cardinals). The Pats will definitely exploit it. The key will be the Rams D vs Cam & Company. Good for another sack-fumble, but Rams O has to limit mistakes. Jared did a good job last week by not forcing the ball where there was nothing and actually had a few nice throwaways.

If the Pats copy the 0 Blitz that Miami used, I will be yelling at the TV that McVay should just WR screen all day against that defense.

6-7 DL at the line of scrimmage with 4 to 5 DBs 7 yards off the line of scrimmage will guarantee 5 or more yards with WR screens.

God I can't believe this is really even a thread. Any capable team should beat the pats this year. If we can't beat an interior team that means mcvay Is failing to adjust to what teams are taking away. It's no secret that they will play the same defense we the dolphins did earlier this year. However outside of Gilmore the pats defense is not very good. This should be an easy win, but we all know the Rams like to play down to their competition

Well, I took a quick look at which "capable" teams couldn't beat the Pats this year, and there's some quality teams in this list:

Dolphins
Raiders
Ravens
Cardinals

The Rams' most disappointing losses this year were the Niners (twice) and Dolphins - both were games they were "expected" to win. You may be right - the Rams probably do play down a bit to their competition unfortunately, and that's why this thread exists :D One more thing. Belicheck/Patriots are the supposed gold standard (cough) in terms of consistency in this league - I would never count them out, and I'm really impressed with them after all the Covid opt outs and other roster turnover they've endured.

I still question our run game, and if it's truly is a playoff caliber run game.

I really can't agree with your mojo on this. They just won their last game 45-0... and made a young QB who had been putting up numbers look like a fool. Their offense isn't great - but they find ways to win, defense special teams, ect.

They have some inconsistencies for sure... but if Bill's plan works and he can find a weakness he still can exploit it.

Their defense is 12th in the nfl and 5th in the AFC... still pretty good.

Also saying you know what they are going to do is absolute comedy - because The hoodie is highly unpredictable. Maybe he does what miami does.... but thats what the cardinals and seahawks tried to do also.

I always like your takes - but this one is a bit ignorant.

Its possible we could beat them easily... but they are definatley dangerous.

I'm pretty sure Belichick is going to emulate Shanahan's offense tomorrow.

Well hear me out here. I think we're looking at this all wrong. The Chargers are a really bad team. Like really bad. Their record speaks for itself. Not to mention players are starting to give up on that team. Yeah you're gonna have a bad day against a coach that literally shows no mercy to an inferior opponent.
Also, look at who the Pats have lost to this year. Seahawks, Chiefs, Broncos, blown out by the 9ers, Bills and the Texans. Two of those teams are bad teams and the other two are middle of the road teams. Not to mention almost losing to the Jets. Lets not act like the Pats are the pats of Old anymore. If we lose to the Pats it's because they're in our coaches and players heads. Much like the 9ers are. That's something we cannot help and no amount of talent will change that if your head isn't right.

Lets talk about the Pats defense. While they have played a couple teams with good offenses I would argue that half of those teams have really bad offenses. And they are still able to put up a decent amount of points on them. That's what I look at is points given up in a game. and lets look at their stats, i don't know where you got yours from but here you go.

Defense Ranks
12th14th15th13th
Pts / GmPass YdsYds / RushTO's

As you can see they are a middle of the pack Defense, don't even get me started on their offense. Not to mention if you take out that 45-0 egg the chargers laid last weekend they would be even lower. I stand by my OG statement.

@Jacobarch the Chargers are/were top 5 in passing yards per game and middle of the pack in ppg. They,IMO are not a bad team, but poorly coached. Anthony Lynn should be gone after this season

The Chargers definitely could use a better coach. That NE game is the first game I can remember in a while where they weren't even in it. All but a few games in the past few seasons were lost within one score. And not because they got points in garbage time.
