Someone tell me.... I have a feeling what we did effectively against Tampa Bay and the Cardinals - that there is no way the Hoodie is going to let us do this...

Throw deep a lot? Go wildcat? I'm being a bit sarcastic but what do we do to get an edge?

On defense the Cheatriots will do the same thing San Francisco did. Take away our short and short middle routes. Clog the crossing route too. The best counters are power runs and deep play actions with double moves. Bellicheat will play man with the corners and zone with the linebackers.

On offense, he'll probably try to run it down our throats. We should counter by loading the box and practicing good edge integrity to limit runs between the tackles. Dare the former MVP to take to the air.

I expect a low scoring affair with few explosive plays. Lots of Malcolm Brown.

Bill likes to take away things that other teams like to do/are successful with. So think about what the Rams do well, and I guess that's what Bill will try to take away:

- early down runs
- play action
- Goff boot plays
- short throws to Woods/Kupp to try to gain YAC

If I'm Bill, I've seen what the Rams are doing on the 0 blitz recently - namely, the quick throws/screen passes. I would at least try to test Goff with a 0 blitz, and sit on those throws. Finally, special teams are a huge mismatch this week. If you watch the highlights of the Patriots beatdown of the Chargers, I think ST accounted for at least 2 TDs, and a 3rd huge return led to a FG. I would test the Rams coverage units and even a trick play would be worth a shot. Sorry, this is coming off more like a how do the Patriots beat us post, but the Rams should be ready for something like this, and hopefully have a counter

Listening to WEEI ( sports radio in these parts) and they were talking about how Mcvay got out coached in the superbowl by Bellyfat and he must have circled this game when the schedule came out because it's a revenge game for him.

Let's hope he did and is mad as hell

Your first mistake is listening to EEI

The Cheats will put all their defense on the outsides, and make us beat them down the seam, or up the middle.

NE will try to be physical. Load the box and make Newton throw...trust me, he can’t and their receivers can not get open. Set the edge on D and don’t let Newton run. NE offense is woeful. Newton is a shell of himself. I wouldn’t even try to pressure him. Make him throw. If we stop the run there is no way NE should score 10 points.
Offensively we need to establish the passing game and get Goff out of the pocket. They will load the box and make Goff best them. If we can establish some rhythm in the passing game it will open the run. Rams need to score early and get a lead. NE is not built to play from behind.
NE’s defense is playing well and getting better every week.
Rams win if they play mistake free both offensively and special teams. Get an early lead and let the defense do what they do best.
One last thing NE loves trick plays. There most effective plays are gadget plays cuz they have nothing else. Watch for the trick plays

I also have some concerns playing against Belichick. He has always been a good defensive coordinator, and he will scheme like he's done before. Blitz, mix up man and zone coverages, or going after mismatches he knows he can win. He also knows the stacked box has given the Rams O fits at times. Fortunately they are led by Cam Newton, so our chances are pretty good (lol). But back to the O... this will be an interesting challenge for McVay to come up with a game plan. How many times in the past 2 years have we seen the Rams play very well, only to be inconsistent the very next week. I am looking forward to Thursday. These games are starting to take on playoff-like importance. Go Rams!

I know Belecheat will try and exploit the special teams. Keep Goff under pressure and make points off of mistakes. If they can run against us even better. Is this a Thursday night game after playing on Sunday? Oh boy. Go rams

The schedule makers certainly were not kind to the Rams this year. 6 East Coast trips and 3 short weeks.

At least this game is at SoFi

Not sure what he will have in store for us, but this is a hump that McVay and Goff
must overcome. If they do I think it's a huge psychological boost for both of them.

The only comfort to me in thinking about this game is that I think
Cam gives us the ball twice, just like he did the Broncos.
They will struggle to move the ball on us. So McVay and Goff will get their chances

I've always believed you have to run the ball to beat a Belichick defense. If you go full pass he's gonna eat your fruit cup at the lunch table. So let's take a look at their 6 losses and see whether that's been a big part of their struggles this year...

@Seahawks: 30 carries for 154 yards, 5.1 ypc. Result was a loss though the Patriots of course scored on the Shithawks' offense and still lost 35-30.

@Chiefs: 25 carries for 94 yards, 3.8 ypc. Resounding 26-10 defeat could not do much vs KC's defense.

Broncos: 37 carries for 135 yards, 3.6 ypc. Defensive battle fucking ugly 18-12 loss.

Whiners: 37 carries for 197 yards, 5.3 ypc. Severe ass beating for Belicheat's boys 33-6.

@Bills: 38 carries for 190 yards, 5.0 ypc. Somehow Bills only put up 24 in a 24-21 loss for the Cheatriots.

@Texans: 19 carries for 59 yards, 2.9 ypc. Here's your outlier with the QB getting it done with no run game vs Belichick.

So maybe it's better to say the best way to beat a Belichick defense is with a strong run game.

Bingo. They will try to stop the run and be physical up front, and they will take away the boot PA game for sure... and most certainty they will sit down on all short and intermediate routes, daring us to beat them deep.

The windows for Goff will be tight as hell in the short passing game. We will need to run the ball effectively most importantly and beat them over the top with a few PA bombs to win this one. This is the game we need to hit a couple deep explosive passes to keep them honest.

I've got a feeling this ones gonna be a low scoring grind it out nail biter. Blood pressure will be through the roof. Not expecting a big day from Goff. Idk which of our guys Belicheat will have Gilmore erase but it might be a good game to get the TEs more involved. More Jefferson instead of JRey since there is less tape on Van. Roll out Goff more if needed and get Akers going early and often.

will you forward this to McVay?
Also tell him I love getting Akers more carries, but please don't forget about Mighty Mite.(Hendo)
He's pretty damned good too.

Well, the Patriots aren't very good this year. This is a game they should win easily. But they also had no business losing to SF twice and Miami. If they can't win this game, they won't win the division imo.
