The position we need least on the line and lets get out of the habit of signing broken down 30+ year old linemen that stink bad enough they get cut from their teams the day after the Super Bowl.

Saffold, Wichmann, Brown, Reynolds maybe with Battle or a guy like Williams adding some depth. I am not spending big money on a G. I will keep Saffold in the fold however.

No. Would prefer to sign a much less expensive young free agent Center like Wisniewski, a guy who has never missed a start.

Restructure/extend Saffold and make him our first swing OT/OG off the bench. He has the talent and the versatility we seek when healthy, play him from the bench while saving some money. jmo.

I would, yes. The savings by cutting him is about $3M. Signing a G who would cost more than that more than likely doesn't make sense. Roger can provide depth all over the line. Will he restructure? Probably not. I would restructure him if possible, but, I doubt he would be interested in that as he just signed that deal. If freeing up $3M by cutting Saffold means we keep one of our key D FA I would let him go. If the Rams can keep him in the fold I think he is worth it.

Don't know what Wiz is going to cost, but, I am guessing won't be that cheap. The question is, if Barnes could be had for $2.5M a year and Wiz costs $6M, is there that much of a difference in performance?

I think Saffold will restructure. He's in the 3rd year of his deal now. Known as injury prone throughout the nfl, already got his money and knows he won't get paid big guaranteed money again.

Wisniewski signed a one year contract last season for $2.5 mil, shouldn't cost any more than $4.mil per for an extended contract, and from what I recall, his PFF grade was somewhere in the middle of all Centers, and just ahead of expensive free agent Alex Mack. Barnes was either dead last in PFF grading or right near it. jmo.

You are right. Corey Wichmann, Jamon Brown, and maybe still Rodger Saffold. Good enough.

Any combination of Wichmann, Brown, Donnal, Reynolds, Saffold could be pretty good. There's a lot of talent there.

I wanted the Rams to draft Evans. He was unreal at Bloomsburg U, 8 miles from my home. He made going to the games worth it all by himself.. It would have been neat to have him on my team. But not at this point in time. The Rams have the pieces to stay young and cheap on the OLine for a while. Let's keep it that way.
