Ok guys, need some advice here. I have dropped almost 20 lbs that I can ill afford to lose. Down to about 150 on a 5 10 frame.Any advice on diets to keep weight on, Since I burn about 1000 calories per run, plus banging nails all day, and on an almost 3000 calorie diet as it is,I can't shove any more food in
Not that I am a nutrional expert but I wouldn't just eat junk because that is not the type of weight you want to put on. I don't know what your diet is now but there are meal supplements that are high calorie, muscle milk is high calorie protien, red meat, and perhaps increase your carb intake.
have my 50th Bday physical coming up (too fast) so I will be seeing a doctor soon.
I just started the 3000 calorie diet last week, and it seems to be paying off. Up a lb so far without changing my running routine

And BTW, I'm running an 18 mile race in a couple weeks. A buddy of mine is doing it as well. You know what I said to him? "Yo man, no matter what happens, we'll both get a PR".....

You do it. I do it. We all do it — this is pretty close to the conversation we have with ourselves during a race, isn’t it?
Mile 1) I feel so fast. I know I’m going to PR today. The taper must’ve really worked because I am flying. I am passing so many people already!
Mile 2) This pace feels super easy. Maybe I should adjust my goal and go faster? I mean, I could really have a breakthrough today.
Mile 3) Okay, not really passing anyone any more. Let’s go back to the A goal. But I still feel good. Legs are still happy. I can do 5Ks in my sleep.
Mile 4) Less than double digits to go. Oh great, I’m counting down already? 9 miles is a long way to count down. I really should stop looking at my watch.
Mile 5) Only 5 more miles plus a 5K to go. Ugh, I promised myself to stop doing runner math. But I’m still on pace to reach my goal.
Mile 6) I really don’t like uphills. Or downhills. Or running on flat surfaces too long.
Mile 7) Legs are not feeling quite so fresh any more. How are we just past the halfway point? I feel like I’ve been running a really long time already.
Mile 8) Why do I ever think this is a good way to spend a weekend morning? I could be drinking mimosas. I could be sleeping. I could not be running.
Mile 9) I’ll be okay if I don’t hit my A goal today. Really. It’s going to be hard to run this fast for 4 more miles.
Mile 10) Must. Not. Walk. If I start walking, it is going to be hard to start running again. Okay, maybe I’ll walk for just a few seconds. No wait, I’m too close to my goal.
Mile 11) Okay, if I just hit my goal, I promise I will never race a half marathon again. If I run, it will just be for fun. No time pressure.
Mile 12) This course and my GPS watch are clearly wrong. This is clearly longer than a mile. Why does this mile feel so much longer than all the other miles?!
Mile 13) SUCK IT UP. Seriously, just one more dumb mile and you’re done. Forever. Just make it to the finish line and I won’t ever sign up for another race.
Last 0.1) THERE’S THE FINISH LINE!!! I love running! Why would I never race again?! This is the best feeling! Look at me! Look at me! I am running so fast to the finish line! I love racing!
Kinda sounds like being a rams fan, but you gotta shift the days a bit.By Thursday we start believing we can win, Friday we know we can win, Saturday we expect to win, then Sunday comes.... WE SUCK! Monday, maybe it wasnt so bad. Tuesday you know I think a break here or there.... Wednesday comes wash rinse repeat
Chi Running is a good book, really helps to spend another 15-20 and get the dvd, only so much you can comprehend by reading

Its a great book and I definitely have changed my running form in accordance to Dreyer's theory.
Old school theory of running was to take long strides, crash the heel and roll off the forefoot. New age is entirely different!
As for the weight loss, we are polar opposites. The more I run, or more appropriately, when I am training, I gain weight. And Im pretty heavy to begin with

Started running again a few weeks ago and ran my first 10K yesterday. Finished in 49 minutes which I consider to be pretty good given the amount of training time I've been able to put in so far.
Looking to do my local half marathon next year so starting training in earnest now. Hopefully posting here will help keep me motivated
Thanks man, although bear in mind, I'm only 22, so I should be in pretty good shape at this point LOL. Yeah I love running too, always have really. Haven't really had the time to keep it up while I've been at college but now I'm finished, really enjoying being back on it. Setting myself a target of 2 hours for my first 13.1; Should be pretty achievable based on what I'm running at the moment.49 minutes 10k? Wow, thats pretty darned good.

I love running and love watching others get the pleasure out of it. Im not fast, never was, and at 47 dont plan on getting any faster. I like the distance runs, particularly 26.2
So I live in a small town and only a block or two away from my wife's sister and her family. We have 2 girls, they have 3 boys. We're kind of like 1 big family. In any event, the boys picked up the running bug partly due to watching me run for years. My nephew is a freshman on the cross country team and he LOVES it.
One day he tells me how the coach promised him that if he (or any runner) were to break 19 minutes for a 5k, the "reward" was that they got invited to join the varsity team when they do interval training. Haha. Gotta love it. Thats the reward?
So he ran a 5k in August in 21:15, pretty good but he wasnt happy
Local 5k a couple weeks later in 20:16, very good but still not happy
1st meet of the season and he ran 19:36, he was psyched but kept his eye on the prize
Went and watched him run Monday and he pulled off an 18:43

Especially after a long run. I have a 20 miler on Saturday morning and then going out for dinner with the wife for our Anniversary. Gonna chow down under the guise that I "earned those calories" meanwhile, I'll easily eat my way in to calorie deficit. LolI am with you Dieter. The more I run the more I want to eat and not good food either.
