I don't do one long run a week. ..I try to increase my distance by a 1/4 mile a week and not really worry about times.

After smoking for over 30 years every little gain to me is a big accomplishment

I meant to post this earlier. I got my medal in April from the Little Rock Marathon. Here is my oldest showing it off.

What you are doing is awesome, keep doing what you're doing.
Was just making the suggestion in regards to your comment about the furthest you've run. And in conjunction with what Goose posted, if you want to run further be it for a race or just in general, you should limit the "long run" to once per week. Even if the daily run is 3 miles, the long run may be 3.25. Then the next week 3.8 etc. To avoid injury the recomendation is to leave the base miles alone and just extend 1 run per week.

Again, just a suggestion. Running is incredible and the only nemesis out there is injury. Cant ever beat it, just have to try and avoid it

Ran my first race of the season, a 5 mile ocean side run. Been a painful arduous period getting back on the road. Felt so good to be out there. The vibe during a race is just awesome. And I've never crossed a finish line when I didn't feel like a champion. Here's to summer

getting tougher and tougher for me to run after work as the weather gets hotter and hotter. After climbing up and down ladders all day in the sun, my evening run times are affected. Going to try to start running in the mornings starting Thursday

Depending on when your race is the hot weather runs, although a pain in the ass, can be beneficial cardio wise. I had the same issue when training for my first 1/2. I found that mixing in hot weather runs paid off because I ran in October when it was considerably cooler.

yeah, but after working out in the heat all day, climbing up and down ladders etc....I am whooped by the time I get home

Dude, I work inside all day, on phones and 'puter. And when I get home and try to head out for a run in the brutal heat, it's a fughedabout type deal. Cant even imagine trying it after busting ass like you are. Much respect to you sir

Love the morning runs, used to go out at 4 am. Now I'm such a cripple first thing in the am I try to sneak out for mid day runs

No one on the roads here at 5 am..lol..but it is almost tourist season


I lucked out this week since it was cloudy on Thursday when I usually run. ..so I just did my typical after work 30 minute run .

Any 26.2 on your radar?

Not right now. I have the Tough Mudder in October, Rock in Roll 1/2 in October, and I am going to do the Rock n Roll 5k with my with the day before the 1/2. I think I may do the Warrior Dash this years which is in August I think. I think I am going to dial back the fulls for a while and stick with the 1/2. Full just requires too much time to train. When do you run the NYC?
