Sloman signed a 4 year contract for just over $3 million dollars with just his signing bonus of $76k guaranteed. I'm pretty sure the other two having no NFL tenure signed for what Sloman was making this year along with the other late round rookies and UDFA at $610k. This was not in any way a cost cutting move. If anything Sloman if they keep him for 4 years likely ends up costing them more. The difference as I understand it is that the FA kickers were one year deals while the drafted rookie is cost controlled for a few years. I could be wrong.
In fact MacGinnis Hajrullah (or however it's spelt) had signed a 3 year $2.28 million contract. That's essensially the same deal as Sloman without the 4th year at a bit over $1 million.
