I think McVay and Snead deserve the benefit of the doubt on roster decisions by this point.

Idk about this. Rookie PKs have a looong history of failure in the NFL. Hope Sloman is one of the exceptions. Definitely thought he’d be practice squad keeper for LT and one of the older guys would win out. Lotta risk involved here. I won’t feel comfortable at end of game down 3 or less — all season long, that’s for sure. Need to stock up on some extra alcohol in the house just in case.

I'm a fan of Sloman winning the job.

Good luck to Hajrullahu and McGinnis in finding new jobs.

Mildly suprised and pleasantly impressed the rookie got it done.

I believe congratulations are in order for our new kicker!

We certainly only got to hear about a small sample of what the coaches saw. I was hoping for Liram because reports were he had a longer leg and he was accurate early. He also could punt if needed.

The kid could have had some nerves early on and got more comfortable late. We didn't see the kicks which makes it impossible to really give an accurate judgment. Kickoffs are also a consideration. It's not a money thing as there isn't that much difference in the first three years as far as I could tell.

Good luck Sam.

Rams need to practice 3rd and 4th and short!

I’m curious if the people commenting on a rookie being a risk realize the two people Sloman beat out had no nfl experience making them rookies too?

McQuaide also said some of Sloman misses in the scrimmages were his fault for bad snaps fwiw.

The problem with Sloman is his trailer status ~ LACHAMP46

Sloman homer-ess!

I know you're upset you didn't win the job, Lirim, but there's need to make burner accounts on a Rams site to call people Sloman homer-esses. :p

Wait until he misses a game-winner under pressure or in bad weather outdoors.
That could be any kicker.

Kobe threw up a few bricks at the buzzer his rookie season. Chick Hearn only gloated about how the kid wanted the ball in his hands.

Perspective.

I can see this being a tad bit of surprise, but they kicked a lot of balls outside of those scrimmages. We have no insight on that.

The other thing we just don't know... what exactly are the coaches looking for?

One thing about Sloman is "his swing".

We have all played or watched golf and recognize a good swing when we see one... There may be a tad bit of projection with Sloman because of that, but this pick does not surprise me.

And... If right... We got Sloman for YEARS. That would be awesome.

Lirim and MacGinnis were 10-13 for the week and Sloman was 7-13.

Thanks for everything man. You're a great mod. Hopefully this is a better season than last year. Take care

Sloman kicked for Miami of Ohio against many Michigan teams, the weather is bad, so he's used to it from that standpoint.

You better not f*** this up Sloman... I mean, welcome to the team and gratz!!!

seriously though, everyone loves their kicker until the missed game winner. No reason to be negative about Sloman winning the job at this point. All though he does basically look like Rudy on an NFL field.
