I only hope Sloman doesn't have a meltdown as Youngho Koo did as a rookie. This is a huge gamble by Snead and McVay. Rookie kickers straight from college are notoriously unreliable. Let's hope Sloman doesn't follow that trend.
I fear McVay made a terrible decision. Remember Tampa Bay rookie K Roberto Aguayo (second-round pick) was a colossal bust.

How in anyway does that tell how 7th round Sam Sloman will do?

Seriously. The Panthers cut their 7th round K, Harrison Butker, who went on to sign with the Chiefs and become one of the NFL's top K's. I'd rather take my chances on the rookie when none of the three stood out.

Yup this could be just as tragic of a decision as when we went with Greg Zeurlein. Not sure how we ever recovered from a rookie kicker :D

It doesn't tell anybody a damned thing. Just more drama for everybody's Friday and ammunition in case there's an I told you so moment.

It was the 2nd round. And I think Tampa traded up to grab him also lol

Edit: yup, they traded a 3rd and a 4th to the chiefs to move up into the 2nd round.

Hahah wow. The next question Im wondering is, does the GM still have a job. And it looks like he (Jason Licht) does???

Does no fans in the stands this year make them more comfortable going with a rookie kicker i wonder? Pressure situations on a rookie is still a thing, but a much more quieter thing this season

We may need to be patient. Just like we were with Zuerlein.

He was a rookie for us.

See this is why I always need another forum. Post an opinion and get laughed at.

seriously? i laughed when i read your post because you are so certain in your opinion of how terrible sloman is when we haven't seen any of them kick in a game yet.

Rumor has it that it was Hajrullahu who dropped the deuce in the porta-potty (blue font).

Lol not a big financial difference between the three players that this should even be brought up.

The difference as I understand it is that the FA kickers were one year deals while the drafted rookie is cost controlled for a few years. I could be wrong.

Saw some say Sloaman was perfect during this weeks practice to win the job. But I’m sure fans who weren’t there know better than McVay does.

Yep OldSchool Just verified with my VooDoo priestess, Sloman hit every damned kick this week!!
Dem chicken bones don't lie!!
