I just got the final piece to the puzzle and I'll figure out the groupings tomorrow as my new job took a lot out of me today. But it hardly mmatters because we don't have the final order of the draft yet and I don't think it would be fair to let everyone else get a head start over the last two GMS. I will have the order and all but the last two GMs picked and ready for everyone's perusal as soon as the SB is finished.

Unfair in what way? One spot in the order won't change team need. You'd still be able to scout your team and prospects like everyone else.

All but two of the GMs would have extra time to research needs and possible picks as the teams for the final 11 (or so) GMs would not have been determined yet.

So here's how I'm doing it. After I divide the GMs into three groups, I'll write the names of each team (among the top 11 teams drafting first) on a piece of paper and pick it out of a jar for the first GM in Group 1. Who will that first GM be? The order will be determined by who signed up to play first. So if Shanpinney is in Group 1 the first team I pick out of the 11 or so teams in the jar will be his team. Those teams will consist of the first 11 (or so) teams picking in the draft. Thus I can't do Group three until after the SB. In order for the grouping to mean anything, Group 1 will be picking for the top 11 (or so) teams. The next 11 teams (or so) picking in the draft will have a GM from Group 2 and so on. I realize that many of the "glamour" picks will be gone by the time Group 2 picks but that's a consequence of grouping GMs by posting times. Do you see a better way? Also, any GM who stated to me that he was fully flexible (has no life and has ROD opened all day) who would like to be included in a specific group can PM me and I'll see what I can do. I'ts very possible that I'll have to put some GMs in a time slot that isn't perfect for them anyway. Notice I said PM. Any requests made in public will be ignored.

As always, everything I said here is open for suggestions (prior to the SB) and possible change.

All suggestions about possible changes to my methodology should be made here in public so that we can all chime in.

Your idea makes sense. The part that doesn't make sense, is saying that the super bowl will shake up all of group three. All of the playoff teams draft spots are etched in stone aside from the final two. So if you use the last 11 picks for group three or whatever, whoever drafts a Super Bowl team won't be at a disadvantage just because it's drawn before the last game. Am I missing something regarding the format of the playoffs here? The Super Bowl should have no effect on the draft slots of all the eliminated teams. Not trying to be a dick or anything, just trying to understand.

What I may not have made clear is that you cannot randomly pick teams for GMs without knowing who the GMs are. Thus, as we don't know who those two GMs will be, it affects the whole group. Would you ask for volunteers to draft for Carolina and the Broncos? Which would mean they'd be picking last or second to last in most rounds. 31 & 32 every round is not an easy path to fill your holes and still get great value IMO. I already have one volunteer (I'd need 2 of course) but here's the thing, what's a couple of days early notice? We're still not going to have the mock until a month before the real draft.

Of course someone will be drafting in those positions anyway but not on purpose.

We'll do that but the order would have to be either (1, 2, 3) (2, 3, 1) or (3,1, 2) for the timing to work. Anything other than (1, 2, 3) would cost us 1/2 or 2/3 of the first day of the draft though we could start a day earlier. I'll put the numbers 1, 2 and 3 on a slip of paper and pick a number. The order for the other two teams will be as indicated. You can see if someone wants to trade Groups with you but if you do trade, you'll be expected to be available to post in the times listed for your new group. Of course with trades and such, GMs might need to be available at times outside their group so everyone needs to keep track of what's happening. Remember, you can always PM me your picks.

It's always going to be less than optimal for someone so...

So my daughter just did that and here is the result: 3, 1, 2 (you owe her big time Jack ). That means we'll start a day earlier with GMs from group 3 at whatever time the GM picking first does his thing which needn't be before 6 PM EST but could be. Group 3 will consist of the first 11 teams picking in the draft. Group 1 will consist of the next 11 teams picking in the draft and Group 2 will pick for the last 10 teams picking in the draft. As I said before, which team a GM gets in each Group will be determined after the SB.
