All it takes is a couple real idiots to ruin a site, which is probably what happened there.
True dat.
I have seen that happen more than a few times in my forum life.

I seemed to miss out on all of the drama at rrf which is probably for the best. The banned thread was always good for a laugh once in a while when you just knew it was coming for someone. And other times it was sad when someone you liked got booted. But every forum I've moved to has been better than the last. So no complaints. Always wished I had gotten a chance to help cleanup the OF after having dinner at Rams Park to discuss it with their media team. But never quite got to.
I was trying to think of the most infamous name from official forum to rrf and I'd say it has to be vermeilfan. Wonder whatever happened to that crazy dude/troll. Some times I think it might be a certain member here lol. But vf was always good for a laugh or frustrating conversation.
Always had a good laugh when Old Larry was the one getting the hammer.
I see what you did there.Always had a good laugh when Old Larry was the one getting the hammer.
..... I didn't leave I was kicked out. .... I was at both the Chiefs and Redskins games. This must have been around 2005 to 2006.
My first post here....
I was there ... I remember some guy with a ZZ-Top beard ... and an unlit good quality cigar ... I remember putting a bottle of Jordan Cabernet in his hands.... autographed by a Rams running back ... signed to RRF .... nobody in the world more deserving to have it than you. (I shared some 18yr old scotch with Rev ... but he was jealous about the bottle wine you received),
I hope I don't get banned for outing myself
btw ... does the bottle of Jordan still exist?
It was. I was in from the start, when a small group from RRF decided they'd had enough and started RRF... I even remember the debate about what to name the board.if so, was a great site at one point
Me too... kinda personal for me... some "friends" became just the opposite. I've actually mended some hard feelings over here with some from RRF.Some good friends made there.
I particularly liked UGRR... he was always respectful, even when the board deteriorated and became a gang bang fest with no moderation (or limited moderation by Son_Dee)... that's really when it went downhill, not when the Rams moved.rev & u got & coach O & mFranke
It was telling that they never could hang on to mods for very long... be it disagreements with the other mods or outside demands, they all left over time until only Son_Dee remained and then the decline accelerated IMO.It had been years since I saw any of the mods online...SonDee, Racetech, Rev or Ark..tho I still talk to Steve and Aaron on FB
Totally agree. The turning point, to me, is when they lost all the Mods except Son_Dee... he wasn't up to the task and it became a gang bang festival. Small group of (IMO) know-it-alls grouped together and slammed anyone who disagreed with them. They have their own board now... with a philosophy that members can say pretty much whatever's on their mind, even if it's that another member is an idiot. Best of luck with that.imo RRF died long before the move.
I'm not gonna go that far... but the board went downhill fast after he was left alone to moderate. He seemed overwhelmed by the chore... I understand, it was too much to keep an eye on, but - IMO - he made some very bad decisions. The place was almost golden, but changed dramatically (for me) when Mofo, then Cumby left. Though I believe Mofo came back as Steve and hung around a bit.
Anyway...Rev backed it down and Son Dee stepped forward and....well I don't mind saying that dude was a freaking dick.
I agree... this site is actually MODERATED. Many remember how poorly Ramstalk was... and - over the years - RRF became loosely moderated and, eventually not moderated at all.IMO it's how the site is "adminned" first and foremost.
Indeed, sir... indeed!! :cheers:That said ROD kicks the tar out of every other board I've tried.
Indeed sir, indeed!! :cheers:That's why ROD is as great as it is. Good, decent quality people.
The guys here do an awesome job, but the quality of those photos and his commentary was always something I looked forward to.I miss Rev's camp photos and reports though... nothing has equaled those quite yet since the move.
I see a lot of them... but there's still that group that have their own board and will never join here... egos... to each his own.I know there are a lot of ROD posters here that are former members of RRF and glad to still interact with here.
Yessir!!I am forever grateful for that site.......it brought me here lol. To be honest the only reason I am here is because of the people I met over there. Because they came here, so did I.
I made a lot of friends there and the friendships have continued over to here.
Ah... the RRFests... I'm proud to say I got the first one off the ground... fronted the money for the seats (25) and coordinated (with help from friends) the entire trip... Cumby, Rev, Son_Dee, PARam, LARF, Ramsnation_SD, CanuckRamsFan, BobCarl, just to name a few.Have we met? I was at both the Chiefs and Redskins games. This must have been around 2005 to 2006.
I need to... plan to get out to LA this year to see one.I urge you to meet up with ROD members at a game sometime. You'll have a blast!
They have their own board where they can pat each other on the back for being the smartest guys in the room... woe to those that do not see things their way. Some of those guys couldn't make it here. Their egos were too big, and didn't like it if they were pointed out as being wrong.
Yup... was that the first RRFest?I still have a football autographed by all the RRF members who were there though.
Hoping I'm in the "mended fences" category...Me too... kinda personal for me... some "friends" became just the opposite. I've actually mended some hard feelings over here with some from RRF

Those were the days... the board was growing and humming like a well oiled machine... everyone got along... the membership was so knowledgable... and that first RRFest? Magic... pure magic. Staying up until the wee hours of the morning, talking football and Rams... it was like we had known each other for years. Well, we did, in a way... but face-to-face just made it all so special. But, with each succeeding trip, it just wasn't the same and those died... then Mods left, then new mods came in, then they left and it was the beginning of the end for RRF.
But, oh, those glory days... nothing like it! Sad, but I'm glad I was there!
Of course you are.Hoping I'm in the "mended fences" category...
RRF was great because lets face it, you can talk football anywhere, I thought the general discussion forum was where a lot of real friendship was gained.
That's what I love about ROD, so much more than just Rams football.
Agree with so much of what you said.
I really miss Beerbelly and cant surf his old posts for kicks anymore, that saddens me.
That rings a bell... 2006, I believe?Morgan Street Brewery was the meeting point for the first one
That rings a bell... 2006, I believe?
Yep - we came over about the same time. As soon as X mentioned he was putting together a site, I was in. I knew he wasn't inviting any of the trolls from the PD site and that we would be able to shoot the shit like friends. Of course knowing we could come over here and cuss like a drunken sailor didn't hurt.Oh, fate, Old Larry and ZN. Those are terrifying names from the past.
Of course, I didn't come to ROD from RRF. I was amongst the people who came in as an early exodus from RamStalk.
Well.... except for threads complaining about being banned from ROD.:jerkoff:
I do know the details about the door getting locked on (Prime Time).....I just didnt want to say because it isnt my story to tell and honestly, I wasnt very cool at all with the way things went down.
I particularly liked UGRR... he was always respectful
I'm sure you're right... it was the first year after the divorce.. had some money... loved the board, so decided to make an RRFest happen... so glad it all worked out.Think it was 05...wife had Happy 40th Birthday on the scoreboard for me
