I was there reading and lurking almost everyday. I miss a lot of the posters there, esp rev & u got & coach O & mFranke. I learned a lot about football that I could never have known reading puff pieces on e$pn. I'll miss it if indeed it's gone but I'm pretty sure it died with the move.
That said ROD kicks the tar out of every other board I've tried. & I still see a few RRFers here, I saw @Juggs here the other day.
I know it was supposed to be tongue in cheek, but I always found it odd that their main Mod would use Farrakhan, a notorious bigot, as a username.
Was great in its heyday.
I've already said my piece over the years on what happened at RRF and why it went down the tubes, so enough about the past.
But I will add that in my experience the ultimate success or failure of every website, business, or sports team is totally dependent on those at the top, those calling the shots.
Here at ROD it's no different(and I'm referring to the two owners and the founder of this site). That's why ROD is as great as it is. Good, decent quality people.
IMO it's how the site is "adminned" first and foremost. Ownership can matter but I know of a site that had/has a great owner and was badly managed by admins that is a shadow of it's former self.
So it's BOTH. And one isn't more critical, they are both equally important.
Was great in its heyday. A lot of us moved there from the official Rams board when that was killed in 2005. A lot of great people and was ran well at the time. I was surprised it was still "running" this long. Not sure most of the main admins stayed rams fans after the move but could be wrong. Interest definitely tanked afterwards. I miss Rev's camp photos and reports though... nothing has equaled those quite yet since the move.
RIP RRF
The owners here are the admins along with @-X-.
And yes, a site owner can choose poorly when it comes to the mods who operate under them, even as the owner of a football team can hire the wrong coaches, as we long-suffering Rams fans know all too well.
Some sites, as well as football teams, have owners who are hands-off. That's not the case here at ROD. My point is that we are in good hands here.
