I think DTR was perfect fit. For the mobility reasons Wolford had, but way better passer.Easily O'Connell, now that I look back. I hated the Bennett pick then; I wanted Jaren Hall. But at least O'Connell had potential.

Yes, he had Bobo and Chardonnet to lean on, but he could always make something magical happen when OL broke down.
Great post @snackdaddy. I think the intangible was that Bennett was a bit older (mature/experienced?), had great production in college, and won 2 championships. These are traits that McSnead seems to like. Unfortunately, the truth may have been that this man may have had too much time on his hands.Eh, its water under the bridge. If they used a day 2 pick to draft a bust it woulda been more depressing. They used a later 4th round pick on Bennett. I imagine they thought he could be good enough because he showed he was a winner in college. Maybe they thought that intangible would be good enough. They got it wrong. It happens. I just wish they wouldn't keep using noodle arm quarterbacks to back up Stafford.
I actually think the Rams wanted Haener (who used to eat UCLA up, probably had the best game I've ever seen a QB play). He was chosen RIGHT BEFORE us pick 25. It felt like they scrambled and since they committed to a 4th round QB in Haener, the just went and chose their next rated guy.I wanted Puka's college QB, who went to Minnesota. But honestly all these guys who were on the board at that point were dice rolls with limited upside.
We'll never know but I agree. I also think they would have taken Levis given the Coen connection and way he talked him up pre-draft too, but the Titans jumped 3 spots in front of them. So this year they need to be ready to jump a little if and when they see a guy they like because they're a team to position in front of.I actually think the Rams wanted Haener (who used to eat UCLA up, probably had the best game I've ever seen a QB play). Jourdan mentioned that they aren’t sure he will ever play for the Rams. She also got a dig in on poor planning at backup QB (after Bennett left) once again.Thing is, Stetson is most likely a bad miss though it seems there's hope that he can return to the team at some point. But there are gonna be bad misses. I'd say this draft came out about as good as it could have when you weigh everything.
We'll need a similar draft next year if we want to compete for a championship or an almost as good one to make the playoffs.

Yeah, highly rec for everyone to listen to her pod this week if you want info on Stetson but she was being so vague that it's hard to parse certain things, I missed that, thought she was just referring to poor planning at backup QB in general (including Stetson).Jourdan mentioned that they aren’t sure he will ever play for the Rams.
