the NFL is entertainment franchise. Refs are employees of the NFL. We are 0-8 under this employee. Saints are 8-4 under same employee (so I have read).

Some background on the man, the myth, the sonofabitch, Bill Vinovich III.

Bill Vinovich III is an American football official in the National Football League (NFL) from 2001 to 2006 and since 2012, as well as a college basketball official.

He was born in Beaver County, Pennsylvania. His family moved to California. He played football through four years of college, transitioning to officiating upon his magna cum laude graduation in 1983 from the University of San Diego with a bachelor's degree in business administration with an emphasis in accounting.[1]

Officiating career

Vinovich began his career in the NFL as a side judge on the officiating crew headed by referees Dick Hantak (2001) and Ed Hochuli (20022003)[2] before being promoted to referee for the start of the 2004 NFL season after former referee Ron Blum returned to his original position of line judge. In the NFL, he wears uniform number 52.

As a college basketball official, Vinovich officiated a first round contest between Virginia Tech and Illinois in the 2007 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Tournament on March 16, 2007.

Due to a heart condition, Bill Vinovich retired from field duty prior to the 2007 season, to serve as the replay official for Ed Hochuli. He was replaced as a referee by former side judge John Parry.

In 2012, doctors gave Vinovich a clean bill of health, and he returned for the 2012 NFL season as a substitute official, working several games during the season. His first game back since 2006 was on October 14, 2012, heading Scott Green's crew in Philadelphia.[3]

He was the referee of Super Bowl XLIX, played on February 1, 2015, at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.[4] Before that, he was the alternate referee of Super Bowl XLVII, which was played in New Orleans on February 3, 2013. In addition, Vinovich has officiated eight other post-season games, including two conference championship games (2002 and 2015), four divisional playoff games (2003, 2012, 2014 and 2017), and two wild card playoff games (2006 and 2013).[5]

Vinovich's 2018 NFL officiating crew consists of umpire Bruce Stritesky, down judge Phil McKinnely, line judge Mark Perlman, field judge Mearl Robinson, side judge Gary Cavaletto, and back judge Steve Patrick.[6]

Personal life

Outside his officiating career, Vinovich works as a certified public accountant.[7]

It turns out he is a CPA with a heart condition. Hmmm...

I am getting older and just don’t remember all the details. In The Rams @Saints game week 9 there were very few penalties called on either side. So other than the controversial Hekker fake FG run what did the officiating crew screw the Rams on?

It only takes a few to turn a game between two good teams.

I will say, IF the fix were in.....I would expect the NFL to want Rams-Chiefs 2.0. The immediate reaction to the first matchup this year was absurd. To think that more people wouldn't tune into that as opposed to an NFL Legacy QB matchup is a bit shortsighted.

The NFL thinks everyone wants to see the Patriots every year. Some believe it's about granting rewards. If you do a lot for the NFL, then you deserve to play in the big game if your team is pretty good. Brees has been a top draw for the NFL ever since he hit the scene.

During the Giants-Patriots Superbowl, Arthur Blank was interviewed and said, " I wish my team would be selected to play in the Superbowl, but these two men deserve it this year" meaning Mara and Kraft, for ending the lockout among other things. It's funny because a Patriot fan recently told me that Kraft ended it, but he also caused it. He says he's the cheapest SOB in the league and most Patriot fans hate him. But, his miserly ways have taken the NFL and it's owners into a whole new stratosphere when it comes to earnings. I wouldn't be surprised if the Sports Entertainment designation was his idea. With that they are protected and free to do whatever they want. No law suits if they get caught fixing games, which means no money lost, which is the thing that this league is most worried about.

So now we get to the bottom of it all. Voinovich is mad because in 1983 the Rams drafted Dickerson in the first round instead of him.

Some of you guys really give up too soon. While our magical leprechaun and the SonOfBum are serving up master game plans, and the whole team is buying in, nothing can stop the Rampaging Horns!!!! :boxing::lifting::coach::wabbit::double::shooting::seizure:

I don’t have a twitter account or I would. It would take me too long to figure it out. Send the stat to a non NFL official source.

That's not exactly true. We're 0-8 since he returned to reffing in 2012. We're 2-10 all time, and he has never assessed our opponent more penalty yardage than us in 12 games.

Wow! I knew it was pretty bad with him as our ref, but I didn't know the specifics of how bad it really is. Damn!

I sent the info to Sam Farmer at the Los Angeles Times via twitter asking him to expose the story. 0-8 is not fair.

Pete Morelli, Walt Coleman to retire
Posted by Mike Florio on January 14, 2019

A year after four NFL referees retired, two more will call it quits after lengthy careers officiating pro football games.

The league has announced that Pete Morelli and Walt Coleman will serve as co-referees for the Pro Bowl, adding that both will retire. Morelli has 22 years of service, and Coleman has 30.

Word of Coleman’s looming retirement previously had circulated. Morelli’s plans to retire weren’t already known.

The league will have to find a pair of new referees for 2019, at a minimum. Ed Hochuli, Terry McAulay, Jeff Triplette, and Gene Steratore retired after the 2017 season. That’s six new referees in two offseason, more than a third of the full staff of 17 referees.

Is it the side judge that spots the ball? If so, the crew that screwed us on the Hekker non-1st down is all Vinobitch.
