Brewer's first year as an OG, he has always played OT. He opted out last year so he's behind. Evans, played OT in college and in 2019 he played RT. Now he like Brewer is asked to move to OG which is a completely different style of play. Kolone has always sucked and Meredith is a rookie. Both Jackson and Anchrum played well. So when Staley unleashed blitz after blitz the interior OL looked like it did in 2019. The lesson is that in 2020 those same 2019 guys played much better.

Brewer's technique at OG was poor. He played too high. Evans was slow as if he was thinking his way through each snap which he probably was. Kolone was as he has always been, a scrub. Both Jackson and Anchrum were a pleasant surprise. I would have been surprised if there hadn't been problems.

This isn't completely accurate. Brewer played all the OL positions other than Center during the 2019 Pre-season games. His performances at RG were where he showed best, although he played better than every other reserve OLinemen all-around during that pre-season series, and this was well noted at the time. While many were hoping Brewer would get a better opportunity at RG during the regular season, he ended up sticking to the roster as a back-up LT, and receiving regular season playing time at LT during the 2019 season. Brewer missed the 2020 season due to Covid, so it was always going to be curious how the Rams continued to groom him for 2021. That entire 2019 pre-season OL was also pretty ugly, can't say I remember how the RB's performed though. I am hoping that Brewer gets further pre-season opportunities at RG based only on his 2019 showing, we'll just have to wait and see if management mixes up the players & OL positions like they did in 2019 for their remaining two games.

This was my back I wanted us to get in the 2nd if he was there. I’d have given a 4th or 2022 3rd for him in a heartbeat.

Hence we are in our situation, and before you say hindsight is 20/20 I’m always an advocate for having two legit RB’s because of the injury chances to the position period.

With a premier RB, Mcvays offenses are unstoppable and just a matter of time. Couple that with our D and it’s championship time.
Dude same. Guy is gonna be a stud.

Yeah Rams may be willing to move a pick and if so then there's a lot of options. There's some fat RB rooms out there. I'll feel a lot better if they go get someone. And really be happy if it's someone with some power to them.

Just think how much more comfortable many of us would have been with Williams being the pick over TuTu. With Van the year before tutu felt like the Gerald Everett pick in McVay's first year. He wanted an athletic Tight End. This time he wanted a fast receiver. Both seemed like forced picks of need to me. They could have had Michael carter in round 3.

That's exactly how the Lewis pick felt to me as well. Cushenberry was their target and took the awful pick of the oft injured Lewis.

Akers was primed for a huge breakout season. Like top 5 RB easily. Him with Henderson + Jones was fine heading into the year. Hindsight is always 20/20, there was no need to spend another 2nd rounder on a RB. Any NFL team's running game will be in rough shape if they lose a 22yr old pro bowl caliber RB before training camp.

It’s only 1 game, then again the Rams have only 1 RB with actual NFL experience. Gotta hope they find a CJ Anderson out there in FA. A guy who can come in and compliment Henderson while having the ability to carry the load if need be.

After finally getting to watch the game... There wasn’t a lot of running room… and guys were contacted early in too many cases…

I’d like to see more Xavier Jones, but he is a little small and lacks tackle breaking strength. That’s what I see, anyway. Funk, I don’t know yet.

I’d like to find a young RB of the CJ Anderson mold, if one gets cut. Someone that can run inside as a forte… break a tackle, drag a guy forward, etc.

Neither back was healthy all of last year. Jones was an UDFA who was not used last season.
So, with the injuries it’s likely that if he was that good he would have been.

It’s not hindsight when a person wanted a runningback in the draft because they didn’t trust the full time health of what was on the roster.

I'm all for selecting the best player available within reason, but using a 2nd or 3rd round selection on a RB after Akers finished his rookie season so strong and having selected Henderson the year before just doesn't seem reasonable at all.

Besides, that player would be just another player without the NFL experience many here seem to be clamoring for the Rams to obtain. And it's no guarantee that this drafted RB pans out. Could be a stud. Could be a bust.

Unless, I'm told the top 3 RBs on the roster aren't able to handle pass protection duties, methinks the Rams shouldn't add anyone to the roster, but just look to add someone to the 16 man practice squad (which should also include a FB, IMO).

Adding a veteran who probably won't contribute on special teams has it's drawbacks, too.

They drafted three more receivers. One in round 2…again.

If Akers and Henderson were completely healthy all of 2020 then I’d feel pretty secure with status quo. Consider that they had Jones on the roster and still drafted Funk. Doesn’t that suggest they weren’t sure about Jones? Funk with two knee repairs does not instill confidence either. There were a few good backs in rounds 3-5.

Look at San Francisco last year. Seattle the year before. Runningback has become like DB. You can never have enough good ones.

This is the type of mentality that got us in this situation to begin with. Enjoy having a lack luster McVay offense.

Latavius Murray maybe on the out with the Aints? Plus Lamar Miller is out there. Thoughts?

The Rams had plenty of other needs prior to the Akers injury, spending another 2'nd round pick on a RB would have been correctly viewed as a luxury pick, and this at a time when 3/4's of this board was anticipating our drafting an Offensive Lineman. As it went, many went into melt-down mode when Tutu's name was first called, ... and if either Corbett or Allen are injured and miss valuable starts, a lot of people will be pointing fingers towards our draft. jmo.
