Been reading a ton about QB now that some other needs have been met in FA. But how about RB?

Sorry, my concern for ball security was justified as we saw in the playoffs. I just don't trust our RB room.

So how due the draft gurus here feel about RBs available in late first round? Assuming Rams agree with me, is there anybody worth taking there or should we trade down?

This is a deep running back class so my answer is fluid. If you want to upgrade kyren, you can do it from 26 or in a trade down, where Omarion Hampton, Kaleb Johnson, and Quinshon Judkins are available.

If you want a change of pace guy, Treyvyon Henderson, Dylan Sampson and Bhayshul Tuten are available in the second to third.

If you want a low cost option who could end up making kyren dispensable, I like Devin Neal in the third or fourth.

And it’s not even debatable for me. Jeanty more than likely goes top 25.

I agree with some people who don’t want to pick up a RB that high.. shit I was hesitant to take Gurley at 10. if we get an explosive WR3, TE this guy tops off our offense and makes us hard to stop and multi-faceted instead of throwing it only to Puka.

I don't think Omarion Hampton would be available there. If the Rams plan to take him, they'd most likely have to in the 1st. Personally I'm ok with that since it would add an explosive element to the offense but I'd imagine that would lead to Kyren being traded on draft day. Still think they'll go the CB route. Just seems to make sense but hell if I know lol

With the talks about an extension early in the off season, I wouldnt have thought they'd be drafting an RB in the 1st round. But being he hasnt been extended yet, I wouldnt say never.
Even if Kyren's extended I wouldnt be surprised if they draft an rb in later rounds, they seemingly take one every year.

If by some insane coincidence Jeanty is there at 26, think you gotta take him. Outside of that, address a need or trade back. Corum is good, we just rarely got to see him play.

Hopefully grab a burner like Tuten later in the draft

Yeah I agree. Omarion is looking like a guy who doesn't get out of the first round. Interesting though that we seem to be one of the only teams where the "he's not getting out of the first" buzz kinda matches. I think anything above 20 is probably too high and I think the other teams have more important holes to fill.

My take on the backs is there are two slam dunk first round types at the top. Both Jeanty and Hampton would juice our ability to get big plays from the backfield. Jeanty seems to be sure to go before we pick, Hampton though might make it to us and if he does I would be fine with his selection.

I prefer power backs but truth is McVay seems to love the little shifty dudes. So maybe Hampton gives him some Gurley flashbacks. Hampton is not Gurley, but he's a poor man's version with good size and burst while also being able to run behind his pads well. I think he's going to be a great pro.

Looking at that list Strong has very consistent film, good size for corner, and strong cover skills. Ran a 4.5 at the combine. Intriguing option.

Also I like that they interviewed Skattebo... "So you're telling me there's a chance!" :laugh3:

Just out of curiosity, how likely do people think the Rams draft a RB on the 1st two days of the draft?

Trying to see something here.

Do the Rams EVER pick who they've met with? I seem to recall that being a thing a few years ago where we met with several players only to not pick any of them. Misdirect before the draft?
Well given that there are far more visits than draft picks it makes sense that many they meet with are not taken. But also these sites and the reporting on who has met with whom is quite a clusterfuck. So who knows.

I think it's as likely as TE or CB depending on who is available. My thought is that it is somewhat likely they grab a RB they think could be explosive with their first pick if one they REALLY like falls to that pick or if they can trade down to get him. I think if that is not the case, they either take a late flyer or they don't draft one at all.

Lot of thinks and thoughts in there. :hmm:

Some years there seems like a correlation, some years no.

Take the meeting as our interest in a player, we're doing it to confirm something, either something positive or negative. We can meet with a guy and just as easily move him up our board or down our board due to the meeting.

Additionally, our interest will not always align with the draft board falling our way, so hard to correlate meetings with us picking the guys.

Generally though, I think you can glean from meetings the draft group (here we see WR and TE, hell, even QB) that the team is most interested in each draft class.

Okay, but how likely. Give me a number.

"Likely" doesn't provide new information. We in an information economy.

I would say there's likely a 1 in 10 chance, or 10%. You?

Yeah - I get it but I wonder how many players they have both visited with AND drafted. Or better yet, what percentage of their draftees they have met with at the combine during Snead's time with us. I'm sure someone can dig that up. Come on you draftniks!
