am i the only one hoping the new wizard of oz can simultaneously be played with a pink floyd album?
That would be pretty boss. I did that once when I was baked.
I would hope others have done the same at some point in their lives.

Not sure what's this baked you speak of? I might have to take my friend Bubba Kush to see Oz though. :nau:

I saw Skyfall at the mall with my dad and grandmother. I'll give it a solid 9. About the only thing that detracts from it is that the villain is just way too creepy for my liking. But I really liked the new Q, Bond and M were great as always, Ralph Fiennes played his role well, there were several other good minor actors/actresses, and the humor and action scenes were well balanced out. The references to the old Bond films were nice as well.

Just saw Lincoln. It was a fantastic movie. It deserves 9.5 out of 10.

This is a great idea for a thread, already i've seen movies that i was wondering if they were good mentioned.

I haven't actually seen a movie in a couple weeks, also we get them a bit after you guys generally, but i'll chime in. Most recent movie I saw was Skyfall. Best Bond movie ever. Yeah, I said it. I may be slightly biased though due to being Scottish and having a large part of it set where I am from

Seriously though, If you haven't seen it and you're even a little into bond, you need to. I thought Casino Royale was ok, I thought Quantam of Solace was fucking terrible , but Skyfall was great. The first time I truly believed Daniel Craig was Bond. 9.5/10

Saw Les Mis tonight, fucking loved it. It would have been even better if Russel Crowe could sing, everyone else did a good job though, Jackman could sing surprisingly well actually. A few great performances, particularly from relative newcomer Eddie Redmayne. I usually am wary of movies that have gotten oscar recognition but this was fantastic. 9/10.

I think I'm the only person in the world that loved Russel Crow and disliked Hugh Jackman in their respective roles.

Saw Zero Dark Thirty tonight.

I give it a 4 out of 10. Pretty tedious and boring for most of it, and then it got semi-exciting at the end. Maybe if the audience could get personally invested in the characters, it would have been better. But there's just so much untold about them that it didn't seem worth the effort to try and figure them out.

I think that's what made it appealing. The true story angle. And the reviews I saw are what made me go see it in the first place. But I'm tellin' ya, man. I was sooooooooo bored for the first 3/4 of the movie that I damn near walked out. That's not to say that others will feel the same. Other people did apparently like it.

Just .... I dunno. It didn't do it for me.

I'm going to see it likely. I'm halfway expecting to come out missing the old days of kicking in doors and night raids, and then halfway silently bitching at inaccuracies. I'm actually nervous because it's the lady who directed Hurt Locker, which was a pile of shit in terms of how it actually happens. The locations looked like Iraq, but everything else was horrible.

But we'll see.

Looper

8.5/10
(The movie lost 1 point over a major inconsistency in cause and effect or it would be near perfect. Granted, time travel stuff is tricky.)

I actually watched Looper last night too. After the Patriot/Texans game got outta control.

I would give it a 6.5/10. I didnt like it as much as I thought I would. It was well executed but to much of the plot revolved around the kid.

Saw The Dark Knight Rises the night before. 9/10. Great move. F all the haters. It was a awesome conclusion to the trilogy. Not a classic(10/10) but a solid addition to the move collection.

That movie had some dumb moments tho. I mentioned the ice scene before...Batman has to stop a BOMB on a TIMER to save Gotham, but he has time to plant fuses shaped into the bat symbol? Those things bother me...like, the Avengers didn't go out and form their "A" symbol. Oh and Bane's defeat was laaaaaame.

Saw Zero Dark Thirty tonight...

From what they did, I'd give it an 8/10... If someone didn't know the story, it wasn't bad. There was some technical mistakes that I got a chuckle out of.. Like not giving PNVG's to the pilots even though that's what they were made for. How they conducted movement on the ground, and stuff about the helicopters or that program.

However taking into account everything that happened in the movie, I'd give it more like a 4 or 5/10... I see what you were talking about, Paul. I thought the beginning was interesting I wasn't bored, but they just left out so much. Especially getting towards the end, it felt to me like they had an amazing script but it was for a five hour movie. So they just cut out a bunch of stuff that happened at the end and sped it up. It was a huge process to kill Bin Laden, but if you're not going to do it right, you shouldn't really do it. If you were going to skim over things, the stuff in the beginning, to me, was better than the end. They left out some major details about the raid as well, or what was going on around the compound leading up to the assault. I would have been happy to sit for another hour for them to add that into the film. Instead of essentially rushing to end it. Especially since they make it seem like it's primarily about the raid.. The ending left me a little underwhelmed.

If it was a written fiction movie it would have been fine. But it's based on a true story, they shouldn't have done that.... But I wont go into too much of a rant.

For what was on film 8/10... For what they made it seem like it was 7/10.... For what they tried to do... 4/10
