His loss might be more impactful than I realize, but until I see it on game day, I'm not stressing if he's not on the field.

I believe a 37 year old Weddle is more valuable.

I could be wrong, but that's how I feel heading into wildcard round vs the Cardinals.

Realistically, teams have been attacking Rapp all season in coverage. He never makes plays, never breaks up passes and is not in position. He is targeted wherever he is in the secondary.

Our safety coverage has been poor all year and Fuller is overrated in coverage in my opinion. We are very poor in the middle of the field and opponents get whatever they want there. The ball just doesn't hit the ground.

Darius Williams simply does not have the size to handle big receivers at the other outside corner spot and is very poor in run support.

We absolutely must upgrade the safety position and the other corner spot in the offseason, as it is just too easy for opponents to exploit us there.

For now, we have no choice but to pray that Weddle can play because we don't have much at safety (even if Fuller and Rapp were available).

If that's your opinion, that's your opinion. No need to get butthurt about people disagreeing or thinking it's a funny statement. Because I think it's funny to believe Jalen playing will offset three completely new starting safeties. One of which who has a week of practice and hasn't been in the NFL for 3 years. You don't think AZ will throw the opposite direction of Ramsey as much as possible? DWill and DD have been pretty bad at CB. Of course they will. They will try to exploit our decimated secondary down the field. Which is why I think our offense needs to come out as sharp as they have all season. Because I agree with some others who have said we will need to score 30+ to have a shot in this game. And after the way the SF game ended, I have a hunch the offense will come out very sharp. Especially with Akers having another week of practice under his belt.

Well I TOTALLY disagree on the Rams players right now. T. Rapp has made plays,but Could better.

Weedle is the perfect player to bring in.He is a Dawg & HOF player. Very well respected. T. Burgees will totally benefit the most.

RR31 is missed & will take over for D. Williams next season.

So let me get this straight. His take is to be laughed at but YOURS is rock solid, indisputable wisdom. I mean, it's 100% that the ONLY way we win this is if our offense lights it up because our defense is going to get torched all game long. I guess being positive is just not being "realistic" in your book. But at least you added the term "butthurt" to ensure a respectful conversation. Nice job.

Scott concerns me with one hand, although it's time for Burgess to shine. Rapp can't cover and he and Ramsey have a rift, so if Weddle makes Ramsey stay focused, he might be worth the roster spot.

I'm more then a little concerned if Weddle gets out there. He can't run much faster then a 4.7 right now I'd think. He'd already lost a few steps when he was here 3 years ago, that had to have gone down. I feel like if the cards see Weddle out there they are going to go after him play after play. I'd much rather see Burgess and Scott the whole game. Let's see the Burgess of his rookie year before the injury, dude was impactful and downright good. I thought he was the better of the two between he and Fuller. So did the Rams by taking him earlier BTW. LET's GOOOO!!!!!

I'll take the L on my own post, even tho the point of it was it *should* be better w/ Jalen playing this time. The last matchup w/ all the guys out from covid shows that even despite a lot of guys being out that they can still play well. But since you possess the time stone, travelled into the future, and found the outcome that supports your claim, that's truth. Which is weird b/c historically the D has had Kyler's number no matter who's playing back there.

Thank you. Our favorite team are division champs and getting ready to host a HOME playoff game in the first ever MNF wild card game on broadcast TV. You would think the vibe would be better, but it's seem like this is 2011 all over again. Which is crazy b/c the vibe was no where near the negativity that is now on what was a far worse team with many many issues.

Did anyone notice the hit that caused Rapp to stay out? Was it shortly after he was just covering green grass on the tying TD? I have a feeling they think a 37yr old safety that is slow but understands what they are trying to do is better than a younger guy who is pretty much useless as far as being able to think on his feet. I have a feeling that Ramsey has been getting caught freelancing because he is trying to do some of Rapp's job because he doesn't trust him.

Well...we know Rapp's main strength was against the run...and his pass coverage has improved. I never made much of the incident between he and Ramsey and consider it an isolated thing. I'd be more comfortable if Rapp were playing.

Burgess is gonna be aggressive and he's gonna hit hard. I'm seeing a lot of zone coverage in this game to keep everything in front of them, so tackling has to be good.

Well tbh there is every reason to be concerned. It is a desperation move. And we know that outside of Fuller we've had some piss poor safety play. Both Rapp and Scott overdo their cushion on some routes, are late breaking underneath on others, and generally not in good position given the route combinations. Weddle is not going to fix that shit and he's an old run-down guy who doesn't like to tackle on top of those things.

The only silver lining in all this is that in 2019 we had JJ playing the deep role and Weddle wasn't up to snuff coming up making tackles. This time around he's probably going to be the deep safety on passing downs if they adjust to Cover 3 or 1 post-snap and if the call is quarters he'll just work with Ramsey (my guess) to ensure that side is aligned properly and do his best to ensure the other side gets the right call/alignment. Getting guys lined up right is one thing Weddle will do well.

If the midget gets time or is allowed to run around outside the pocket we're gonna give up some points. If we're going to win this game we're gonna need the defensive front to dictate.

What will be telling too is Weddle's snap count. I presume it will be very high because Scott and Burgess are underwhelming as F. But they might just use him in packages where Reeder comes off. It's gonna be an interesting game. I think it's either gonna be a blowout win for us or a shootout.

I don't think Reeder's coming off the field.

I just think about what's more likely... more snaps for guys who have been with them all season.. Scott and Burgess as well as Long and DD.. or for Weddle. I also think Howard probably gets more snaps and stays on the field in situations where Rapp would've bumped him off and Scott would've come on the field.

Basically, I see more snaps for Scott and Burgess and Howard.
