This defense is weird, and I mean that in a good way. Whether or not Ramsey had an off game I will hope he comes through next game. Morris as we know it, likes to test waters. It may give most of us high blood pressure, but his defense comes through. Though I will have my full on attention at 5 hoping he will shut down the passing game. His leadership is needed out there, but my concerns remain on the O, because when the D executes and gets posessions the O has a tendency to not capitalize on the given oppurtunities. Just hope this entire team works in unison, and I don’t care if we can’t get 6, atleast get something.

Given his combination of size, speed, tackling ability and coverage skills, if Ramsey wanted to be the best FS in football, he could be.

My question is... would that be a better role than "star"?

Maybe he is moving him AWAY from the best WR on the other team by using the Star position. It sure seems like any top 20 WR is eating him up....He is easily the most overrated motor mouth I have ever seen. Every single time he gets burned he is looking around as if it wasn't his man. $20M could be used on a good LT and other things we need right now. I doubt anyone would be crazy enough to take him from us for high picks though...but at least the cap space would be nice if they did take him for low draft pick.
I think he’d do well in a system that was mostly man coverage. This soft zone with 8 yard cushion does not take advantage of Ramsey’s best attributes, like length and physicality. The three yard cushions that they played with in the playoffs were much better. Why did they revert back to the soft coverage?

Here’s an idea out of left field. What if he was attempting to throw games because he owes favors. He was good last year until he suddenly wasn’t.

This thread began with a Let's Trade Ramsey thought; and now has a Maybe He's Throwing Games idea.

How long before we have a conspiracy theory suggesting That's Not Jalen Ramsey! ... It's an Imposter!!

I do think it's a premature discussion but I do wonder how the defense would look with Ramsey playing FS. I think he could be a dominant force

Funny you say that. I looked back on my draft guides and Lindy's listed Ramsey as a free safety, stating he would be suited at FS because of his tackling ability.

Do the Rams need to be worried about Jalen Ramsey?

Rams cornerback Jalen Ramsey has struggled over his last four games. Is it time to be worried about the star CB?

What the Rams need to worry about this week are the edges of their defense. We need to shut down that shitty read option nonsense and put Mariota behind the chains.

Matchups in this one favor Ramsey more.

It's that the matchups they have had him out there in. You can't put him on an island with Diggs. You can't put him on an island with Chase. He doesn't have the wheels any more for that. Refs let him get away with grabbing more than some other corners, but that only goes so far when the other guy has noticeably quicker acceleration.

So it is on Raheem to transition his calls appropriately. Give him some backup when he's out on the edge, with over the top support. Or put him on the WR2 and double the WR1. Either way the DC has to quit acting like he's Deion.

Lastly we could use another safety that can cover and hit. Just saying. Not ideal but it would give Raheem more flexibility in manning up as well as a guy who can easily transition from the box to over the top.
He doesn't have the wheels anymore for that???? Oh, great. We're paying him as the highest-paid CB in the League and he's not fast anymore, BRILL-IANT!

So, what happened with Ramsey's speed? Can't recall the last time I heard of CB losing it at age 27.
(Of course some players never had much speed anyway, but that's not Jalen)

Well he did mention in a preseason interview that he's not 100% yet. Said he's not all the way back to doing some things, but wouldn't elaborate. The last 4 games he's been playing injured. I don't get the trade cries?

Ramsey is a unique corner. Even though he may have lost some juice he is still smart and big and fast and consistent as long as the guy he's drawing isn't a top type weapon. He's still gonna be nasty in a lot of usages we just cannot put him one on one on some of these guys who are at the top of their game right now. I figure he'll have a great game vs Atlanta because he'll be on the rook but even if they put him on that TE he should be fine because he doesn't have the kind of wheels that gives Ramsey probs.

I think by the end of the season Ramsey might be our nickel corner in all but name. Meaning he'll be a guy who can boost your run defense while also being able to handle even the biggest wideouts and tight ends. They'll call it star still of course. And he'll bounce outside and even be on an island at times when the draw is favorable.

People will complain and say well he's being paid as an elite corner. But he adds shit other guys don't have. How many guys can cover the slot and tackle like an additional ILB. And maybe he has been hurt or something idk. But I don't think it's time to panic or anything with him. He's still a hell of a player just don't embarrass him by putting him on an island vs guys who are going to roast his ass.

I'm Ramsey's biggest defender for a reason: he's still one of the best cornerbacks in the league, still one of the most versatile chess pieces in our defense, if not the most. I honestly think some of y'all think less of him because he talks trash, because some think he's a diva (he's not.). Hell, I talk trash in boccia practices, and it's not near as physically-taxing as football, not nearly close to have emotions running constantly, play by play.

I think people are overreacting to a set of bad games (even Aaron fucking Donald has had games without sacks, believe it or not). Ramsey will bounce back against Atlanta, will prove that he's still got it. Book it.

FYI Ramsey is 27. Soon to be 28. It feels like he has been around forever, but he is not that old. He still should have at least a few more elite years left, physically. I still can't believe the hate in this thread.

Morris is a different story. Time will tell. Not to derail the thread too much, but I was a huge Morris critic last year, and actually wanted him gone. But then, he turned things around when it mattered and the defence went into lockdown mode, making me eat some crow. But alas, I always viewed the jury as still being out for our DC and this season being the true litmus test. Did he turn a corner? Would he take that next step? Would year 2 prove to his advantage e.g. now being adjusted to LA, having had time to implement his system, learn his players strengths and weaknesses, etc.? Or was he simply a benefactor of having Miller and AD99 towards the end of 2021-22?, such that he will revert back to his middling ways now with Miller gone? Time will tell. I was and am cautiously optimistic. Schematically, independent of the talent levels of his players, Morris made some great tweaks for the NFC Championship game vs. the 49ers, that allowed the Rams to at long last contain their running game. Brian Balldinger had some great videos on Twitter breaking it down.
Time will tell, but Raheem Morris’s track record is pretty good. Mcvay isn’t going to get rid of Morris,so there’s that.He is a people person & will get the best out of his players. He is tight like that.
