Bigger concern to me is 4 of his last 5 games he's been BBQ'd. I think his confidence is shot right now. Is his skill declining? Is Morris using him wrong? But man just look back to the playoff run last year and now this game it's not a good trend at all.
It's that the matchups they have had him out there in. You can't put him on an island with Diggs. You can't put him on an island with Chase. He doesn't have the wheels any more for that. Refs let him get away with grabbing more than some other corners, but that only goes so far when the other guy has noticeably quicker acceleration.

So it is on Raheem to transition his calls appropriately. Give him some backup when he's out on the edge, with over the top support. Or put him on the WR2 and double the WR1. Either way the DC has to quit acting like he's Deion.

Lastly we could use another safety that can cover and hit. Just saying. Not ideal but it would give Raheem more flexibility in manning up as well as a guy who can easily transition from the box to over the top.

I blame Morris he is ruining Ramsey moving him all around in his “star” role where he is asked to be in the slot a lot. He needs to be an outside lockdown corner where he is best.
Maybe he is moving him AWAY from the best WR on the other team by using the Star position. It sure seems like any top 20 WR is eating him up....He is easily the most overrated motor mouth I have ever seen. Every single time he gets burned he is looking around as if it wasn't his man. $20M could be used on a good LT and other things we need right now. I doubt anyone would be crazy enough to take him from us for high picks though...but at least the cap space would be nice if they did take him for low draft pick.

In the last 4 games, Ramsey has given up 3 tds of 50 or more yards. I know the face mask in the SB was not his fault but the rest are on him.

I don't really think we should reevaluate a player based on two plays

Not reevaluating him. Just saying he's not as good as he once was. All great corners get burnt, but he seems to be getting burnt more and more.

Why on God's green earth would you take an elite man coverage CB and make him play zone/"star", negating the "Revis Island effect" he can have on a defense???

The Chargers would gladly give us a 1st and a 5th for him. Frankly, we keep him or Morris. It was apparent last year but it's glaringly obvious now.

Plus we could use a first round pick to trade down for a 2nd and a 3rd to get some interior OL help.

This top heavy team could sink quickly if something isn't done soon.

(Sorry, I thought I got it all out in the vent thread.)

A 1st and a 4th, and their current 1st or 2nd best CB ... and I'd do it.
And of course they take his entire contract.
I'd make that trade tomorrow.

If we go off of poor performances as a basis for getting rid of a player we’d have 3 players on our roster today
LOL. That was funny, I'll give you that.
Problem is Ramsey's poor performances is NOT just yesterday's game. It's been a LOT of games, for the highest paid CB? (not sure if he's highest paid, but it's zillions)

The Los Angeles Rams put together an ugly, forgetful performance at the start of the 2022 NFL season. Fresh off a Super Bowl win, the Rams revealed their championship banner and then fell flat against the Buffalo Bills in a 31-10 loss on Thursday night at SoFi Stadium.

Josh Allen looked like an NFL MVP candidate, and the Bills looked like a team that can make a deep run and walk away as AFC Champions this season.

Sean McVay and Jalen Ramsey were a few to give their feedback after a frustrating loss, and it was a downright blowout in a questionable performance from LA. The Bills’ offense was electric, and Stefon Diggs and Josh Allen looked like one of the best QB-WR duos in the NFL.

Jalen Ramsey Fires Off on Rams’ Defensive Scheme

Ramsey, who had the task of guarding Diggs for the majority of the game, was ripped to shreds on Twitter after another rough outing, especially after his old comments on Josh Allen went viral.

However, Ramsey gave some insight on what exactly went wrong on Thursday night, and he didn’t hold back while discussing the defensive scheme (h/t Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic).

“Obviously we’ve gotta watch the film, but I’m sure we all would’ve liked to play man a little bit more. I feel like we kind of had a mentality like, ‘bend, don’t break’ a lot, because they were driving the ball but they weren’t scoring, like, we were getting turnovers, interceptions, whatever it was.”

The Rams did force turnovers. Allen threw a pair of interceptions, and the Bills also had a pair of fumbles in the game. Yet, the Rams couldn’t stop Diggs, who had 8 catches for 122 yards and a score. Gabriel Davis chipped in 4 catches for 88 yards and a score, and Allen had 10 carries for 56 yards and a trip to the end zone.

McVay insists they will fix these mistakes — and the Rams have a long time until Week 2 against the Atlanta Falcons.
“I’m not gonna run away from the mistakes I made tonight,” Sean McVay said. “We’re gonna fix this. That’s all we know how to do.”

The Rams Defense Also had Pass Rush Issues

As Ramsey points out, he wishes they would have played more man. However, more than that was the lack of the pass rush for LA. Von Miller terrorizing the Rams offensive line hurt even more with Aaron Donald tied up pretty much the entire game.

Matthew Stafford was sacked seven times. On the contrary, the Rams only brought down Allen twice the entire game, with Donald and Bobby Wagner each accounting for a sack.

It was a tough loss, and the Rams defense needs to find a way to frustrate the quarterback more and get Donald even more involved. If not, it could be a long season for the Rams on the defensive side of things.

The turnovers were encouraging for the defense, but the high-octane Buffalo offensive gave them fits all night, and McVay did nothing but credit the Bills after the game.

“You give credit to those guys, that’s gonna be a really, really good football team.”
Who knows, maybe the Rams see the Bills again in the Super Bowl. Either way, LA has a lot to fix if they want to have another shot at a Lombardi Trophy.

Rams Star CB Ripped Apart on Twitter for Josh Allen ‘Trash’ Talk

he Buffalo Bills went into Thursday night’s season opener favored to win over the Los Angeles Rams, but no one expected them to blow out the defending Super Bowl champions 31-10, in particular, Rams cornerback Jalen Ramsey.

Ramsey defiantly told reporters leading up to the big game that he was not buying into all the Bills hype, comments which made NFL analysts recall his bold statement about quarterback Josh Allen back in 2018.

“I think [Buffalo Bills draft pick Josh] Allen is trash,” Ramsey said in an interview with GQ. “I don’t care what nobody say. He’s trash. And it’s gonna show too. That’s a stupid draft pick to me. We play them this year, and I’m excited as hell. I hope he’s their starting quarterback.”

Ramsey belittled the Wyoming alum for not being able to perform well against big schools. “He threw five interceptions, and they lost by a couple touchdowns or something like that,” the Florida State alum said. “If you look at his games against big schools, it was always hella interceptions, hella turnovers. It’s like: Yo, if you’re this good, why couldn’t you do better? He fits that mold, he’s a big, tall quarterback. Big arm, supposedly. I don’t see it, personally.”

Unfortunately for the five-time Pro Bowler, he was unable to contain this “trash” 6-foot-5 quarterback at SoFi Stadium on Thursday night. Allen went 26-of-32 for 297 yards, accounting for four touchdowns.

No edge pressure at all. That’s got to improve. I’d like to see More ILB blitz as well.

.

People are bringing up quotes from 5 years ago? Fuck me twitter is trash.

And the Rams couldn't get pass rush because Allen was getting rid of the ball quickly, because the Rams were giving up short passes all night long. It's not rocket science.

It's weird how the Rams got beat deep a couple of times when they kept everything in front of them. They changed things up those two plays and got burnt?

We need more pressure on the passer to be great, Ramsey just needs to play with more discipline and not peek at the QB ala Peters. He got caught a couple of times trying to read the QB and he got it wrong. Morris needs to find the balance that helps this bunch play to their ability and he will gm 1 is done let's get the train back on the tracks.

Morris simply doesn't know how to use the talent he has. He plays favorites too often. Raheem keeps reverting to his conservative soft zone and IMO that is what Jalen was CORRECTLY criticizing. If you only play zones then OCs can game plan around it and it makes it way too easy. IMO that is why nobody wants Morris as a HC. He's got his homies then there is everyone else. Look how long he stuck with SJD even when Gaines was out playing him.

Time to play J. Williams at edge. His constant rotation of Lewis and Hollins into coverages degrades their pass rush as they don't hit their strides. The Chargers did that with their JACK (SAM) until John Pagano took over as DC. He understood as a LBs coach that edges need to hit their stride in a game, i.e. do things to setup the OT and constantly rotating them did not allow them to do that. The Chargers play a 3-4 hybrid scheme. But Morris doesn't play to their strengths.

Case in point A'Shawn isn't a DE.

Zone can work if you get great pressure but when it fails it can fail big. You have to adjust if you aren't getting pressure.
Buffalo used zone almost exclusively but they got pressure with 4 and we could do nothing to counter. It is a fluid chess match and sometimes you just fail to adjust while hoping you suddenly execute. we did not and they did

Let's not get into the bash Morris mode. It's one game. Yeah, we played badly but it's not the end of the world. The main thing is that McVay fixes the issues. Stafford looked a bit rusty. There were no receivers out there besides Kupp (it seemed) and honestly, it looked like one of our bad games against the whiners where we could not force a punt, We had them on 3rd and 12 and got penalized for a 12 men on the field penalty which helped them get a first down.

If the Bills play that dink and dunk game, then the coverage needs to tighten up a bit. But what worries me is that Von Miller made a huge difference on that team and now he's trying to get OBJ to come over.

The Rams could really use OBJ. Allen Robinson is new but he was absent last night.
