Ramsey completely eliminated many star WRs last year. You people are way over-reacting. At one point his stats were almost unbelievably good. I forget the graphics that were circulating online last year, but he had a stretch of several games giving up almost nothing vs. big-name WRs. If he keeps this form up for several games, sure, we can start to worry if he is declining. Game 1? With no pre-season? Hardly time to panic.
He is admittedly a bigger corner. Smaller, shifty WRs might be harder for him to keep up with 1 on 1 in short space when he is playing in the slot and/or closer to the line of scrimmage in a STAR position. Diggs fits that bill. In exchange, we have someone that can match up with bigger WRs extremely well (remember his complete erasure of DK Metcalfe? Who I do admit, is not quite on Diggs' level, but he is quite talented), and who is an incredible tackler and run supporter. I take that trade every time. Smaller CBs are easier to find.
He does get beat deep too often for a top tier CB. Not sure what is up with that. And often times he has been bailed out as a Ram, either by penalty (remember the opener vs. Dallas when he sold OPI masterfully?) or the QB simply failing to connect with his WR. That's been going on since he arrived and I don't quite have an explanation for it. And it is irksome to pay a CB that much money, rely on him as a stud (which he is), and to still see those deep shots burn him as much as they do.
Still, at the end of the day, it's an offensive league. Every CB is gonna get torched sometimes. Ramsey is the least of my concerns.
