It was a pick play, which is illegal.

A receiver can't make a block downfield before a pass is thrown downfield.

What Faulk was saying is that the throw was late, which would have eliminated the penalty, and Holt said, if Pettis would have just turned and looked for the ball, then it wouldn't have looked like a pick. BTW, if the throw is behind the LOS, the block would have been OK/legal.
 
I'll tell you, Ray-Ray, T.J., Alec....we are going to get some blocks on ST's.
