If you franchise a guy, and another team signs him from you, you get TWO 1st round picks as compensation from them.

If we don't get at least a first rounder in the trade, then it's a bad trade.

That's completely irrelevant. The fact that we tendered him at the highest value, has nothing to do with his trade value.

In wasn't buying it (Paying Tru 16.7M Tag) when Snead made the announcement. It's trade or make a long term deal. Hope they get a first or a least a high second + lower pick.

If we can't keep a good player like Tru by signing him to a long term deal, we might as well blow this sucker up and do a complete rebuild...We never seem to reach critical mass where home grown veterans and new rookies make the team good enough for a playoff run.....

Why? The Patriots get rid of players of Trus caliber all the time. We have a core of players we won't get rid of, stick with that and continue to build. We have the youngest team in the NFL, you don't blow that up over getting rid of one above average player. He's way over paid and is always banged up anyway

If we get a second, it's a great trade, especially with this draft class.

This is interesting if true. The Browns made the most sense.

FWIW, Browns fans say that Mary Kay isn't very reliable when it comes to breaking news.

Why? Because of 10+ years of absolute FAIL, that's why! Under Fisher, we have had that moniker of the "youngest team in the NFL" for about three years....We have stayed away from most upper end free agents since the Jake Long, Scott Wells fiasco (mostly).

and our perennially losing team has no cachet of a 6 time Super Bowl champ, drawing FA's like flies. Sorry to unload on you, but whatever the fark we have been doing with the "youngest team in the NFL," has not worked..even a little.
(as far as blowing up the team, if we can't even resign a TruJo.....seems pretty freakin' sad if you ask me...We NEED homegrown vets, and we normally lose them after rookie deals...)

We have a new staff. I'll trust that they know what they're doing. If there's one man who deserves the benefit of the doubt, it's Wade Phillips.

So if we do indeed trade Tru, and McDonald becomes a free agent as expected, our secondary heading into the draft would be:

CB:
- EJ Gaines
- Troy Hill
- Blake Countess
- Lamarcus Joyner
- Mike Jordan

Safeties:
- Christian Marqui
- Isaiah Johnson
- Cody Davis
- Brian Randolph
- Maurice Alexander

Great.
