One of those "dirty jobs", emptying the outhouses. Done by Atlas Cesspool and Ceptic Sevices. they have a bumper sticker on the back of all their trucks:

"Atlas Ceptic, Your Shyt is Our Bread And Butter".:poop:

Lol, I remember at a weekend softball tournament in the mountains there was a row of porta-potties. By Sunday morning they were so stinky I had to hold my breath when I took a leak in there. Then this guy rolls up with the septic truck. I figured he would be wearing a hazmat suit and gas mask. He had a tank top and shorts and proceeded to clean them out. I asked him how he deals with the smell. He said "What smell?"

My wife could cook for him.

We lived on Corbin Ave just a 76 station away from Parthenia. In 1964, my dad bought the original ranch house for that area. It was abandoned at the time and a real mess. But my dad was a young contractor and made quite a place out of it. He turned the horse corrals on the Corbin side of the house (yes they were connected to the house) into bedrooms for me, my brother, and youngest sister. We lived there until 1975 when we moved to Atascadero.

Anyway, yeah I remember those fires. My dad was also with the LAFD at the time so we had a particular interest in them.
I too, grew up in the valley area. Granada Hills, until moving the Simi in '67. Stayed there until '84 and then headed to Oregon for 30 yrs.
Funny story is Stu's dad and mine went to the same high school (Notre Dame) within 2 years of each other and had never met. It was sure cool to have them meet up at Pig Feathers and listen to them shoot the bull about the early days in the valley.
I'll always treasure that day. Great laughs about the crap the got away with then.

The company I work for renders chicken and turkey offal. The plants can get quite rancid.

Every employee that works at the plant by the second week cannot smell the rancidity anymore.

Some weeks the smell will get really bad that you can smell it a mile away. I tell the plant general manager about it and he always responds - "hmmm ... didn't notice"

Imagine what cops, first responders and morgue attendants must deal with when bodies haven't been discovered for a few weeks. Can someone ever get used to that ?

Really? Haven’t seen it. You’d think Jerruh would worry about his own stadium. I heard shecocks fans over ran the place in the playoffs.
Nope. I was there. Seahawks fans have NEVER tavelled well here.

Saw Cirque De Soleil at the Forum tonight. I arrived early and attempted to get some pics of the stadium from a couple of different vantage points.... first one if from the north end looking south

Last couple were taken from the east looking west, into the Sun... these give a better idea of the enormity of the project. In the panorama, in the foreground are 2 story Condos that are on the North east section of the area of the Stadium. To the right, near the trees, you can see the Forum. And, I am approx a Qtr mile from the site.
