Rams would have signed him a week ago to avoid starting a scrub at QB

but Wentz had prior commitments to mow the lawn and clean out the garage.

I too have the same questions a lot of others have. Why not earlier in the year? Why now when we're all but out of playoff contention?

To be clear, I think Wentz is a good choice for a backup and believe he could have done enough to win last week even on a week worth of practice. But I don't understand the FO's reason for bringing him on now unless Stafford's thumb is worse than expected OR they want to give the illusion of doing something while secretly tanking.

Unfortunately I think this means Stafford will be out longer than they hoped
my line of thinking says they realized just how much QB2 and QB3 suck and this is a "what if Stafford gets dinged again" move

but I have been wrong once or twice before

When Bennet left the team this should have happened. Think about this... for 8 weeks Rypien has been running the scout team. You telling me they didn't see how bad he was before now..... Should have gotten a capable backup before now. This is about McSnead wanting to be right and it affected the team. When Stafford hurt his hip he needed a week off. But... you can't with a bad backup.

Being as this is the Los Angeles Rams and not the Kentucky Rams I would bet there may have been some concerns that signing an openly Christian outspoken QB would cause issues. I'm glad they signed him but I'm also pretty sure Stafford will play in the next game from what McVay said yesterday.

Whats up with the straight up hate on this board? Are some of you really rams fans? Or are you fans from other boards just stirring shit up? I never said, F McVay or they suck or they should be fired at this point.

I get that some fans are upset, but temper your expectations a little. McVay has brought us to two SB's in the first 5 years of his hiring. And chill on the overreaction post bombing replies on my post. I don't want people associating me with your extreme points of view.

You're seeing a lot of posts from the same person. As mad as most of us were, even if we thought McVay needed to move on, most have been respectful in their messaging. The mods are keeping an eye on these kinds of posts since they violate the rules.

I hope Wentz is at the Rams training facility as we speak looking over the playbook and getting back in playing shape. He has two weeks to prepare and be ready if needed.

Actually surprised by this signing since he's going to cost more than vet minimum I'm guessing. Everything they've done so far is planning for the 2024 offseason and having cap room available to refresh some holes. It's the only reason Rypien has been the backup this long because they were hoping to save a few million in cap room and pray that Stafford can make it through the season. I know some people can't accept that reality but it is what it is. They gambled this year and lost so far. But it's not like they haven't been as up front about that as possible.

Maybe cause he's a Moron?
You might want to take a look at the list of Rams coaches since John Robinson. Long line of LOSERS who could not coach and could not draft. SOSAR came from that era and we got our brains beat in like it was a normal thing.
Vermiel was so bad a mutiny was in the mix. He knew he sucked so he got Martz who was smart AND crazy.
McVay is not perfect but is the best coach the Rams have ever had by far.
The guy is still the youngest coach yet he has his coaching "lineage" in the NFL doing well.
Suck it up buttercup.
We sold out and are paying the price. McVay is so good all he has known is winning, this is his first rebuild.
Every coach in the NFL would take Seans won-loss. Playoff won-loss and 50-50 in 2 SUPERBOWL'S !
