I like Hekker , but he wasn’t very impressive last year besides the one game. Too many line drive 45 yard punts. Lost field position many times during the year.

Not a bad move. Put the fan favoritism aside from last season and other than one really good game, Hekker wasn't any better than average.

And I'm a Hekker fan.

That one game shows he still has it. Who else would we get with the money from cutting Hekker? I guess we could've had enough money to re-sign Austin Blythe...

may not mean anything.. or it might...

Hekker has been declining the last couple years... the end of last year he looked very weak.

Outside of his punting chores, his place holding alone makes him invaluable.

Nothing wrong with the coaching brass attempting to galvanize Johnny's competitive juices once more. We could use prime time Johnny for this Super Bowl campaign.

NOTHING wrong with Hekker. The coverage teams have sucked so bad these past two years especially last year that he’s had to “choke up” and play down to his coverage teams... Hekk should be just fine.

Also, with them trying out a metric fuck-ton of returners, they may overwork all three kickers...

Left footed punter and maybe the Rams figure they can deal him for a conditional draft choice during preseason. Also you need returners to get used to a left footed punter too, I doubt Hekker's job is in jeopardy, plus Hekker offers quite a bit from a gadget special team aspect.

Lol @ Those thinking we’ll get rid of Hekker.

Just nonsense. McVay is known to take care of his vets, especially the valuable ones and this is only to host the EXTENSIVE punt and kick returners and coverage teams that were absolute shit last year!

Still can’t believe that guy however you spell his stupid name is in the organization still!!

Had a better season? Lol

So Johnny has always been top 5 and now he was middle of the pack last year and now he’s trash? ‍♂️

Guess where Bodjurrez or however you spell his name ranked in 2019? Dead next to last!!! :alol:
By your own measuring stick this sounds ludacris to even consider.

I said last year. And don't post that shit like I'm a moron. Go look at Hekker in 2019. He sucked too. We will get along better without the insults.

If I read their stats correctly, Bojorquez's gross and net averages were 5 yards-per-punt better than Hekker's numbers in 2020.

That seems kind of significant.

Also, I believe Hekker's net-average has declined every year for the past five seasons.

Perhaps the most disturbing thing is that I am looking-up punting stats!

In 2020 Hekker was the 17th ranked punter on a horrendous 30th ranked special teams unit that transitioned the ST coach ASAP when the season ended while Bojórquez ranked first in net punting yards on an 8th ranked Bills team.

Also if you look at the previous year Bojórquez was ranked 2nd to last while Hekker was ranked 3rd in net punting avg. Just because the numbers from 2019 don’t back up your view point you still have to take them into account. ( or should anyway)

Also, nobody’s insulting anybody here. Calm your tits. Your points are incorrect factually and statistically and I’m merely pointing that out in a discussion about our football team. If you think it’s better to open competition or the team looking to saving money fine, but when someone gives incorrect opinions on statistical fallacies one shouldn’t be offended by correct information.

If you took anything I’ve posted in this thread as an micro-aggression you for sure would know the difference between an insult from me and a discussion. And I’ll leave it at that.
