Rams are becoming a team with a few very highly paid former first-round draft picks, some castoff players who have disappointed but still have potential and a bunch of mid to late round draft picks to fill in the gaps. I hope that we can with games with this approach.

Super athletic, in the proper role he plays with lots of emotion , speed and momentum. A lot of potential and upside most likely a strike now before the options are even more limited move. Can't imagine there is a player we were targeting in the draft that is a lower risk. understandable move

Guys and Gals, I don't want to be a Debbie Downer but it strikes me odd that we just paid LF 10 million and let Cory Littleton leave and he's getting around 12 million a year from the Raiders.

Does this bother anyone else?

Look I hope beyond all hope that LF elevates his game and I'm shown to be wrong and all but I am left wondering if we should have just resigned Cory.

OK, time to fire the photon torpedoes, I am ready!!

I completely agree re: Littleton...i think we'd be extremely lucky if Floyd "replaces" Fowler. PFF has given Floyd props more so for his run defense than his pass rushing. Crazy we have the best player on the defensive side in football since LT and we cannot pair another top pass rusher with him to save our life. I just hope by the time we get a consistent edge threat that isnt here on a year to year basis, Donald isnt past his prime.

BTW, can someone confirm if Floyd was cut by the Bears? If so, he doesn't count against the compensatory pick formula. Fowler, Littleton, and Brockers should definitely help us recoup a couple of picks for next year.

On the off chance this wasn’t answered somewhere, Rich Hammond (our beat writer) confirmed he was cut and won’t impact compensatory picks.

I think we may be misreading this, He isn't a direct replacement for Fowler, they just were both moved in a short period of each other. LF will be better against the run and we will still address the edge in regards to the pass rush. It is a newish system and this is our first real addition from outside. There is a reason, lets watch the rest of the pieces come into play

I'm far from impressed by this offseason thus far but Littleton had to go. And Floyd is a solid type move. It's for more money than I'd like to see for Floyd, however one year and not counting against the compensation picks helps. And Snead probably had a high grade on him in 2016 IMO.

He's a totally different guy than Fowler. Fowler has rush skills and can win to get pressures. Floyd will need to work for pressures and it won't be consistent but he'll bolster the edge vs the run.

One thing people need to remember is we need to be ready to beat the 9ers. That means better vs the run, and a better run game. Floyd doesn't really move that needle overall, but he adds physicality on the edge vs the run and if they keep Matthews it might mean he's gonna play more ILB.

Floyd only affects our cap for 2020. Unless Littleton was willing to sign a one year contract, he would have affected our cap for multiple seasons. And as has been mentioned elsewhere, we have Ramsey, Kupp and JJ coming due. Although I generally like Corey Littleton, I would prioritize all three of those guys over him.

I'm fine with this signing. Floyd was asked to drop back into coverage a lot because of Mack, and he still has a fair bit of potential. It's a one year deal for a guy who was cut, so not only are we not betting too much on him, but it also doesn't count against the compensatory formula.

This could turn out great.

Whoops.

This is the approach the Pats used to create a dyanasty.
It can work.

Floyd is good in pass defense and run defense. He plays inside and out. He seems like a slight upgrade against the run and maybe a slight downgrade at pass defense, compared to Littleton.

Not a bad move

Well this makes makes me like the pick up more. Assumed he was a free agent and cómo picks are where it’s at.

With all due respect sir McSnead is not Bellicheat. As much as I think he’s a cheating pos he’s a fucking genius with personal. I do like Snead and McVay overall but since that Ramsey deal I haven’t been feeling them as much. Bellicheat doesn’t do deals like the Ramsey deal with a 35 mill QB and a Phenom like AD (paying him a ton) the same roster.. Not to mention some of the other contracts it appears we are interested in unloading.

At this point your comparing apples to oranges

I would say that has happened, but when all eyes are on them (harder to cheat) they do have talent and can get the job done on match ups. As you see it seems their allegations come in cycles.

Regardless, he does know when to cut bait, when to pay someone and for how long. Guy knows his shit as a GM.
