Sigh. I was hoping he'd move along to force the team to add more fresh blood to the room. But this is fine provided they just inked him to a depth type contract. He's fine in that depth role or as C if he's going to start. Prefer not to see him at G though.
In all fairness, I can see why they would have given a fourth for Allen and hope he could develop into something a little more than he did.Or a 4'th and bring in another Brian Allen ...
Mostly the injury bug got him even though he was only a fair to middle of the pack starter.

*Bruss gets an incomplete but he looked raw in preseason
I'm not saying I agree but I suspect the Rams won't be adding much at Oline in this years draft, prob just development prospects and that they intend to go with this group and hope that their health reverts the mean.
If they stay with this group: I think that group in the above order is how it'll play out. I can't say I've seen a lot from Jackson but they seem to like him a lot and it sounds like Jourdan thinks he's the best LT on the team. That means Noteboom - yet again - tries to keep a spot at LG. Best case scenario is Bruss really steps it up and takes the spot from him and Noteboom stays at swing tackle.

I don't get the Edward's hate. As much as they hate on him for last year, you never heard anything bad about him the years before. In fact he was the only olinemen in our 2019 draft that didnt fall flat when put out on the field. Then again people wanted Hav gone bc of his 2019 play as well. That obviously would have been a mistake.

That OL is going to absolutely get Stafford smoked by W3. That's just BAD. Jackson/Hav are the only ones worth a damn. Any physical front and we're getting abused.
Desperately need to add a G or 2 in the Draft and a Center.
That starting OL is cringeworthy.
Even when healthy Boom couldn’t play OG. Fuhgeddaboudit…
Allen simply cannot stay healthy. To the point that he’s not worth a roster spot at his salary.
Instead, I recommend the following:
Jackson or high draft pick (unlikely)
FA (2nd tier) or draft pick
Shelton or draft pick on Day 2 (my preference)
Anchrum, Bruss, or Brewer
Hav
That OL could put our O back in position to excel both in ‘23 and beyond And would require only 1-2 new players from outside.
Anything less might be a bandaid on a gunshot wound kinda thing.
It’s interesting how many OL experts here are able to tell us how a group that never played as a unit for any extended period due to injuries could not possibly, after having an opportunity to work together, be successful.
While I am hoping the Rams sign or draft better OL, I confess that, as a lawyer who only played college intramural football, there may be people in the organization who have a better handle on this than I do.

Don't need to be an expert to see that Noteboom and Allen have been pretty injury prone therefore unreliable during the course of a season. I'm sure the Rams will add to the o-line room. I'm guessing we will sign at least one FA and and draft a player or 2 for that unit.
You don’t need to be an expert to see they have each suffered injuries.
You do need to be an expert to assess whether they have some physiological vulnerability to future injuries.
That type of expert is called a doctor.
Again…I’m going to continue advocating for more OL talent. I do so, however, as a fan who also questioned whether the Rams could win in 2021 with David Edwards and Brian Allen as starting OL.
Shelton was obvious. Rams keeping the O line together. Can play Center or Guard. Won't impact compensatory draft picks which is why you won't see Rams active in Free Agency

I hope ya didn't expect an o-line expert to chime in because they won't here lol.... you'll definitely get fan experts, if that's even a thing hahaha.....I think we are all concerned that those 2 I mentioned won't hold up thru the rigors of a season and would like to not see a repeat of last year. We are all guessing who can help us the best, even the scouts the Rams have are doing so as there are not many sure things when going from college to the pros.
I'm good with the Shelton signing. He was probably their best lineman. Although I suppose that wouldn't be saying much. But he does give us a legit backup center. Allen isn't terrible. But he's fragile. Him and Noteboom are just too injury prone to count on.
Allen is decent against finesse. But doesn't seem to match up against big, physical guys. Which surprises me considering he played in the Big 10.
Agree about the injury prone, the best ability is availABILITY.

Good signing. You need depth in the trenches and lots of it. The Rams' o-line injuries last year were catastrophic and are unlikely be repeated. But you can rest assured, over the course of a long NFL season, that some backups on the line will need to step up for several games. Great to have players that can play multiple positions competently.
The key piece in 2021 was Andrew Whitworth. His ability and leadership were missing on the Rams Oline last year. Players were constantly shifting around on the line as injuries happened. I wonder if injuries happened partly due to players trying to do too much?
Now if the Rams would just follow my posts here and gain wisdom..... *mentally flexes.....
