The other 40% of the time @VeteranRamFan is right. Between the two of them, they know everything.I'm always right 60% of the time.
Rams current OL depth chart. Colors I typically use are elite plus-starter starter depth shitter.
LT: Jackson
LG: Boom
C: Allen
RG: Bruss
RT: Havenstein
iOL depth: Shelton, Anchrum
OT depth: Arcuri
Pending FAs: Edwards, Brewer, Nsekhe, Aboushi, Skura
As it stands right now the OL is at 8 and given the shit we went through last year the Rams may opt to keep 10. There is room for them to add a handful more for competition for camp, maybe more if they really want to cook that group.
Some of the guys I have labeled as depth might be starters, most likely candidates being all the projected starters not named Hav. Edwards is almost certainly gone for purposes of him getting concussions, but for myself him playing like he had given up even when he was healthy left a bad taste in my mouth.
Of the pending FAs I will admit Aboushi might warrant a shot in next year's camp. But Nsehke is too old, Skura is too weak, and Brewer I cut bait on mentally when he opted out during the corona BS. He's not a fighter. We need fighters up front. Guys who are going to dig in.
Now you can quibble with my rankings but I am being careful and honest here, which is what the Rams should be doing in-house. It's possible they get a flush with all four projected starters in orange moving to starter levels of production. But you have two problems going on here, those being level of talent plus the fact they can't stay healthy.
So the way I see it and starting at LT we don't have the high pick you want to plan to address LT. One they like could fall in their laps in round 2 and if so you take him. But generally speaking that's not gonna happen, we'll be looking at RT type OTs with iffy feet. This means best use of our options is to have Boom & Jackson duke it out in camp at LT and the loser is our swing OT.
I have Boom at LG because that's the projected and obvious move the Rams will make to try to recoup some value with him. But he's a shitty guard. His weakness gets exposed there vs the 3T draws he'll see on opposing lines. So from my perspective a LG option that is better than what we currently have is required. Just to be safe. Now the Rams can address that a couple ways, those being a FA signing and the draft. And neither need to be highly sought types either. The FA can be a bargain type just to ensure we have a solid option when Boom limps off the field hurt. The draft pick can be a midrounder of which we have the resources to make that happen.
Center depresses me a bit because signing Shelton makes me think we are acknowledging that we won't be able to upgrade it in the draft. That's how I read it at least. Though if you talk to McVay I am sure he'll tell you Shelton is in the mix at LG. Which is rather stupid IMO but I suppose worst case he could slide to LG or RG if either side disappoints, problem is he won't really change anything by sliding over.
So for the remainder of the FA season my expectation remains that the Rams will sign a LG. Chances are it will be a bargain type signing. But it is going to be required IMO if they want to ensure this unit has enough horses going into the draft. Then in the draft I view one more iOL as a requirement to ensure they have good options for when Boom gets injured or whatever other catastrophe strikes our collection of subpar pieces.
If they stand pat then I will admit we are up shit creek. But I doubt that happens. We'll see.
He had Carberry as his OL coach, In TC & regular season, Carberry has him constantly flip-flopping back from OG to OC.I don’t see Shelton as quite as good as some characterize him. He comes in at a 58 overall on PFF if you are into that type of thing. That is not good for the record.
I see Shelton as good depth though and we really need that.
Edwards, as much as people here hate him, grades out better then Shelton.
I am not expecting anything more than a mediocre 2023 for the Rams unless we upgrade the talent on the Oline.
He's not a fighter. Someone else can pay him. You're being a little hard on Brewer, he's a cancer survivor and worrying over your immune system being down while covid might kill him does not make him a quitter.
I never said that they don’t know what they are doing. I just don’t agree with all of it. Every team has its own approach. The Rams don’t seem to favor investing a lot into the offensive line. That goes for middle linebacker too. They won a Super Bowl with that plan. But that is not the only way to win a Super Bowl. I’d argue that there are better ways. The Chiefs have a good system in which Oline play is valued and they are consistently contenders. Passing on Humphrey to pick Tutu is one example of the Rams team build that shows that they are not always right. When someone says, “in my opinion…” and I disagree, I typically just say “I disagree…”
When someone states, as if they are expressing gospel truth, that the team doesn’t know what it is doing, then I’m likely to question their authority.
If you disagree with my approach, that’s fine.
That's not true myself and other posters constantly complained about him. You didn't hear any management complain about Evans but myself and every other poster did. Management will not complain they will demote, trade or cut that's how they complain.I don't get the Edward's hate. As much as they hate on him for last year, you never heard anything bad about him the years before. In fact he was the only olinemen in our 2019 draft that didnt fall flat when put out on the field. Then again people wanted Hav gone bc of his 2019 play as well. That obviously would have been a mistake.
I think your Oline evaluation per color chart above is pretty spot on.Rams current OL depth chart. Colors I typically use are elite plus-starter starter depth shitter.

Yeah…I’m done addressing your straw men.I never said that they don’t know what they are doing. I just don’t agree with all of it. Every team has its own approach. Does every fan like the ten yard soft cushion that Morris gave opposing offenses? I’d say most didn’t. It never works against the Niners. It’s acceptable for people to have their own opinions on the many facets of running an NFL team.
As for IMO, that has to be assumed if someone is not giving a source.
Must have missed those complaints from other members, either that or they were drowned out by the screams about Evans. LolThat's not true myself and other posters constantly complained about him. You didn't hear any management complain about Evans but myself and every other poster did. Management will not complain they will demote, trade or cut that's how they complain.
I’ve never told anyone what they can or can’t, or even should or shouldn’t post. If someone expresses an opinion that I think is over the top, I’ll say so (often with a bit of snark or sarcasm, as none of this is really serious).I think your Oline evaluation per color chart above is pretty spot on.
I would probably put Allen and Jackson as starter material though. I would include Edwards there myself. I mean we won a Super Bowl with those guys. They were not plus starters at all but average starters in my book that on their best day when heathy can block things up to a serviceable level. Jackson based on some quality play last year appears to be someone I could roll with as well.
My problem is we don’t have any above average starters so on game day it’s struggle bus and overall losing at the LOS. We need a Whitworth or Saffold or Corbett. Two of them preferably and then 3 average starters in my opinion. Further we need TE RBs that are better in pass pro then our current groups.
@avenger - Bro, I agree it gets tiring when people are so opinionated regarding the team, fans often criticize the decisions as if they would lead the team to the Super Bowl every year. But we all have opinions just like and you do share yours quite promiscuously. Not to mention, fans can often be right when the coaches/FO are not and that can be maddening. The Tutu/KC unarmed center is just one of several examples. That doesn’t mean we want a different coach or GM. For me personally I just like to vent to my Ram family when shit like that goes down. I love to hear everyone’s take including yours and feel we should be able to banter a little within respectable reason. Don’t you think?
That doesn’t even make sense. Adios.Yeah…I’m done addressing your straw men.
Have a nice day!
Sorry but Boom at LG and Jackson at LT to me is terrible we've seen Boom not be good at LG we've seen those two better at swapped positions.Rams current OL depth chart. Colors I typically use are elite plus-starter starter depth shitter.
