There were definitely issues with the wind on the punt return team. Smith was having trouble catching the ball. Carolina returner had the same problem but he dropped one that resulted in a turnover and almost lost another one on a fair catch. Wind was definitely an issue. As for the blocked punt it was just a lazy block by Ingle on the edge trying to get down field to cover. I’m not sure if he suits up again because of it because McVay was hot about it and let the interim ST coach know about it.

Was ingle in because Whittington was out?

Yes indeed.
Special teams just not good enough going forward and it has nothing to do with Mevis and Evans everything else needs to be reevaluated and overhauled.

I am being to think that the issue is not the specialist, or the ST coach. Rather, the problem is roster construction (i.e., McSnead). We need guys that actually want to play special teams. Not WR5`s returning punts, or backup RB`s not giving a shite whether or not they maintain lane integrity.

We need lunch pail guys on the bottom of the roster who actually want to be on the fucking field.

That gunner was wide open. Does Evans not have the arm to make an easy throw to a guy with no one around him for 20 yards? Shouldn't there be a hot read to see that? If not someone is failing in their coaching.

You mean like Benny S. types, that they just let go for nothing.

Example. Get another ILB through draft (say R3) with an eye on STs initially but replacing Speights eventually.

FWIW the block punt was totally on Tanner Ingle. Instead of continually to block his man, he chipped him, then disengaged to run down field and his guy had a clear shot to block Evans punt. That is just unacceptable and Ingle needs to be held accountable.

For god sake, the reason you were activation was because of special teams and then you make a huge mistake like that. I cannot put that on Evans of the ST Coach, that is just a gaffe by Ingle.

Maybe the coaches in the booth pay attention and notice the possibility that if Ingles keeps half assing it he could get beat bad. Call it down and have someone talk to him. I get the feeling that even though it has been a problem all season, the team isn't paying attention and are preparing for the next play. Someone should have seen that our kicker was kicking low. the other teams are picking this shit up and setting us up. Nobody cares enough about ST except the ST coaches and they are not getting the support of the team.

Man do I get what you are saying.

One we were too deep in our own territory at that time in the game.

And two, if that is not a planned call the gunner may not see the ball.
