This time of year if you need roster help the pickings will be slim. Still I dont see much downside to bringing him in.
You still have to wonder why washington would release him being the draft capital they have invested

From my understanding they're one of the highest man coverage defenses in the league, I'm pretty sure that's a Quinn thing. Honestly I didn't delve too deep into it. Look I get it and I've said I hope for the best with a change of scenery. I'm just trying to be honest here a lot of people look at what he did in college and ignore the almost 2 years of him being really really bad in the NFL. Again I hope for the best I'm just not gonna say it's all rainbows and unicorn farts here. This guy has major issues hell PFF had him 20 points lower than T White who we couldn't get rid of fast enough as fans because he was terrible. To them this guy is worse.
Couple things here.

First, I said the dude plays the fucking ball. Which, on the video I linked of him playing for the Commodes, he does on more than one occasion. This does not mean he always plays the ball. Or that I expect he'll always play the ball. Or that he plays ball, which is a different assertion entirely.

Second, nobody is talking him up as some amazing find. I think we all realize this guy was cast off as a first round pick by a team that could use the same stuff we are looking for. But since this thread is about welcoming a new Ram player I think it's appropriate to give the dude cred that he at least has the talent to actually do the things we need done.

Obviously overdrafted, he shouldn't have been a 1st round pick. Also, he's not a physical tackler or run stopper by any means.

BUT, he can cover, and has a LONG reach to knock the ball down, and is fast enough to keep up with any wide receiver. I'm excited to see what he can do here in a year or so with some good coaching.

As I've said more times than I can count I hope the change of scenery does him well and he kills it for the Rams. This seems to be conveniently ignored on this subject.

As for the bolded aside from a few plays he honestly has not proven that he can play at this level. If he did he wouldn't have been cut he wouldn't have been 7th on the Commodes depth chart and he would not be a Ram. This is what I'm saying this is what we have seen from him so far in the NFL. I hope he kills it for the Rams is a pro bowler has his jersey retired and is in the ring of honor and the hall of fame. But I'm not going to pretend that the guy wasn't cut for some very obvious and very good reasons.

Hope the change of scenery help him and the next coaches and I hope people are reading this last part if they read anything that I've said about Emmanuel Forbes.

Oh I get what you're saying and we agree.

Thing is I simply said the dude can play the ball. Look at the highlights I linked, that you replied to. I think your reply took what I said out of context, and you're running down the field with it when the play's been blown dead amigo.

All I can think of is "gruesome Newsome." So what is the joke?

I am a big fan of old movies; and that's William Powell and Myrna Loy (huge stars in the 1930s and 1940s). They starred in a series of romantic comedies as a married couple who solved murder mysteries.

The original was titled "The Thin Man"; and all the sequels had the words "Thin Man" in the title.

Since Forbes is so lean at 166 lbs, he is kind of the Rams' Thin Man.

Maybe my post was a little more lame than clever but ... what the fuck ... they can't all be pearls.

I did watch it. I just don't think a short clip will tell the whole story. We can get a clip like that of highlights from Kendrick and T White as well.

Worth the shot as a reclamation project. He's long and had elite ball-skills coming out of college. From what Commodes fans say, he got mercilessly torched as a rookie due to questionable decision making by the DC, lost his confidence, and is a poor scheme fit for Quinn. We'll see if our coaches can make it work.

When you draft a corner they come out of the draft with raw abilities. Not all of them have the ability to play the ball at the NFL level.

Kendrick played the ball, which I love, but he did not have the ability to stick with receivers at this level. His lack of speed killed his chances.

White was a reclamation project, a dice roll on health that we lost.

This kid has legit speed. And he has film at college level and pro level showing him undercutting routes and playing the ball with his head up. Still might bust. But the raw skills are there.

Reminds me of Tye Hill. Hopefully he can get his head around to defend passes.

I was thinking the same thing...beat me to it. Hill had no ball skills, this guy seems to have that ability however. More of an issue of run support and maybe over aggressiveness in coverage and getting burned.
