Your eyes didn't deceive you. Shelton is awful. Dedich got abused. I never understood the Shelton signing. Loved the Poona Ford signing from the jump and that looks good so far. Landsman too.

These are all great locker room types who work hard and have some talent. But they're not the guys you want out there in big snaps. This is what's holding back the offense. OL is hit and miss even in the same game, even snap to snap on a given drive. Too much fluctuation.

Worst thing is Avila not only can't stay healthy but hasn't been all that great when he's been in there. It's like after his rook season he decided to rest on his laurels. Jackson I give full cred to for playing through his issues. So far. Now when Dotson goes out is when we see shit fall like a house of cards. Dedich / Shelton / Limmer is like an evil trinity of OL shit.

It is incredible that it wasn't long ago the interior line looked deep. Amazing what a difference a guy getting poached then another guy playing like dogshit can do to your iOL depth outlook.

Also and btw I don't think Limmer is a failure at this level yet. We just need our two starters back and playing the snaps at OG. Given that then I am hoping Limmer has time to figure out OG responsibilities so he's not fucking up assignments. And of course that Avila recaptures some of that early career form.

Next draft we need a Center for sure, whatever else they prioritize. A young pivot who can fucking call it to the Rams satisfaction. Also think we need a new OL coach but that will happen when McVay gets tired of being jerked around with the OL as a group yet again. Whoever the fuck had his stamp of approval on Shelton's return as the answer to all our problems should be fired. I presume that was the OL coach but hey maybe not.

Either way when Limmer looks as terrible as he looks this year after actually putting up reasonable rook film at the pivot, to where he can't even get his fucking hands on a DT, it's just more continued reason to think we don't have the quality at OL coach we should have as an elite franchise. McVay would be even better with a strong OL coach.

I believe most of Parkinson's snaps are in a protection role. We aren't the only ones seeing pass-pro issues McVay is very aware of it

Agreed. But it's every year man. Every season this OL has to get itself into playing form and as a result we're a wildcard type team who has to win four straight to hoist the Lombardi. Meanwhile the Eagles OL is why they won the top seed and only had to win three straight. That top seed is a big deal. It is the OL every time that holds McVay back. I just can't understand why he can't ever seem to get it right so that he can contend for that top seed.

Would be sad but not surprising if the ol ends up being McVays Achilles heal for his legacy. Oh, and play calling.

I drank the koolaid a bit with the reports from camp (yeah I know better) OL issues are season killers. They are the most important position group on the field. with our #1's we can get by but beyond that we are susceptible especially in big games against good teams

I really liked Wendell early, but I'm with you. There is enough continuity that the line should be getting better as a whole and we should see dudes developing. Limmer in particular, but even Avilla do not appear to be improving individually. And when it comes to talent assessment, the Shelton grab was always questionable. That the depth-guys are coming in and crapping the bed makes matters worse. At some point, someone is responsible/accountable. I truly hope it's an early-season thing and they get it together as I am really rooting for Wendell to be successful here.

To understand the Shelton signing, watch Limmer.
Dedich did some good work in the run game.
I did notice Desjuan Johnson playing DE a few times which I thought was interesting.....but, he may have done that in preseason too, I don't remember.

I had nice glass of a Jim Jones Special myself.
Easy to get excited when you see improvement in the preseason.....and there was certainly improvement this preseason all across the OL. But, the preseason regular season gap is real.

I'm worried that Limmer's confidence is getting broken too soon. After the playoff game, he was number 1 on everyone's shit list and he had a whole offseason of ppl dragging his name on the internet. He got lost the starting job and when he goes in, every mistake is getting called out.

I agree. But this is where coaching should be able to step in and get the most from what they have. Another reason I have this working theory we need a new OL coach.
