  • LT Alaric Jackson: 68.3
  • RB Kyren Williams: 67.4
  • RT Warren McClendon Jr.: 55.2
  • TE Tyler Higbee: 54.1
  • LG Steve Avila: 53.7
  • WR Konata Mumpfield: 52.8
  • TE Terrance Ferguson: 50.7

defense

  • OLB Josaiah Stewart: 81.2
  • OLB Desjuan Johnson: 79.7
  • OLB Jared Verse: 77.5
  • S Kamren Kinchens: 72.3
  • CB Roger McCreary: 67.7
  • DT Kobie Turner: 65.5
  • DB Quentin Lake: 64.5
  • OLB Byron Young: 50.4
  • S Kamren Curl: 47.9
  • CB Darious Williams: 38.1
  • DL Tyler Davis: 30.3
  • LB Omar Speights: 29.4

Speights was not impactful at all in this one, missing one tackle and taking poor angles to ball carriers throughout the night. Young was playing at less than 100%, and it showed. He had zero pressures and one missed tackle, losing contain on Kenneth Walker's touchdown run to start the game. McClendon allowed a team-high four pressures in the loss, the only player to allow more than Avila's three.

I think Speights is just a dude. At best a solid back up on a good defense.

I am wondering what their eval is of McCreary? Do they think he will be better if he goes through a full camp with them? He seemed like he was just subbed in here and there and never found a true role in the defense.

I wonder what happened with Speights. He looked like a legit LB last year and this season he just disappeared for the most part. Absolutely atrocious on Sunday. They gotta find an upgrade for him. And obviously multiple CBs. We also badly need a 3rd WR.

If you guys know or have the information, how many missed tackles did they have totals vs Seattle? That was infuriating to watch. I know Forbes was hurt but I thought that was why they might have sat him for the first half last night, I mean he absolutely gets run over when he tries to tackle a runner.

Stewart has been the bright spot of the 25' draft class.
If Young becomes too costly Stewart and whomever we acquire in FA or the draft may fill the void nicely.

Sophomore slump? We can see what next year is like but thankfully since the Rams aren’t heavily invested in him if a massive upgrade can be had on the FA market or draft it’s not a hard decision to pull the trigger.

Right? Last year's post season defense would have gotten the Rams to the super bowl this season.

I know Young was banged up, but this shows that Stewart might be the guy that can start and save money on Young. I'd much rather trade Young then let him walk and deal with the comp pick formula. I'd think we could get a 2nd or a 3rd for him personally.

A shame we didn't get more of McCreary to evaluate him. He's a FA now and we'd probably have to spend a good amount of money to re sign him.

since we should be trying to get a SB win next season with Stafford, I would think having BYoung one more 1yr is better for the Defense than not having him. Stewart has looked good but it would be a downgrade if he is the starter over BYoung.

Not sure if that is true or not. Young fell off a LOT after his hot start. He is also 28 already and may have a bum knee. Losing him for potentially nothing rather then getting a 2nd or 3rd seems like a big loss. We tend to evaluate edge defenders fairly well in the draft. I'd sign a depth vet and draft one this year and see what the trade horizon looks like for Young.

If his knee is really messed up and will effect him, than he has no trade value. Someone posted, maybe @OldSchool , that he was one of the leaders in pressures. I don't get wrapped up in sacks but I do care about pressures. Like I said I would rather have him for one more season than trade him and downgrade our edge on what possibly could be a SB season.

Maybe. I could tell on that last drive that the Seahawks just wanted it more than us. Pathetic tackling and the defense looked like they just wanted to go home.

While I agree that Speights had a poor game vs. the Seahawks, I thought he was terrific against the Bears.

Need a sideline to sideline beast that can cover the short middle on passing downs. Speights would be good depth.
Would be great but there are only a few guys like that in the NFL.

You described a three-down, off-ball LB. Right now that’s mostly Landman. Speights is mostly the run-down, off-ball LB who comes off the field in many passing situations.

Landman is limited but he did get a healthy extension. Should the Rams draft someone like Sonny Styles, he could be the type of LB you’re suggesting but that would take Landman off the field in passing situations, making him an expensive two-down backer.

Styles would almost certainly cost the #13 overall pick. He would be an upgrade but I see greater needs.

Landman's deal is very minor. They can walk away from him after next season with only $2M in dead cap. OTC shows only a $250K dead cap if traded pre June 1st in 27'. So his contract shouldn't be an obstacle if they go the Styles route.

Depends how you're looking at it; and we're looking at it differently. You ... long-term. Me ... 2026 only.

You're correct that it is NOT a long-term commitment in money.

When I wrote "Landman off the field in passing situations, (would make) him an expensive two-down backer"
I was talking about 2026 ... when Nate Landman is scheduled to have the 3rd-highest cap hit on the defense. Assuming Darious Williams is released, only Lake and Ford would have larger cap hits.

Both our points are accurate.

Yep, definitely just a guy. The Rams would have the cap to take a look at Devin Lloyd in FA, but given their propensity to not pay LB’s much $$, 99% chance it doesn’t happen.

Unless we hit on a later round LB pick in the draft we’re probably stuck with Speights for at least a couple more years.

I don't know. They might go with Donal instead next year.
