People blame the player for regressions but they played Goff behind perhaps the worst OL in the NFL in 2019 and he got beat to hell. He got the blame for everything and he was man enough to try to carry it even though it wasn't really his to bear. McVay didn't like his reads but WTF he held him in the huddle so long Jared had basically about 10 seconds to try to read and make adjustments. All of those unnecessary time-outs or delays of games are on McVay, not Jared. But he got the blame for it and began to get beat down by all the pressure of trying to be perfect without much help from McVay. A regression of this type almost always comes with a coaching breakdown.

The Brad Holmes was here when it was happening. If he thought Jared was lazy and unmotivated do you think they would have traded for him? No IMO Holmes saw what I saw. Now the reports coming out of Detroit are that Goff is throwing dimes, what the HC calls WOW passes. McVay was micromanaging Goff on every play. With Stafford, he doesn't have to. Now suddenly they are making the OL changes they should have made for Goff. Coincidence? McVay has no part in that? McVay gets rid of that fraud Kromer and gets a true OL coach in Carberry now that Goff is gone? Why didn't he do it in 2020 when it was clear the change needed to be made after 2019?

In 2018 Goff's breakout year his QB coach was Zak Taylor who left in 2019 to join the Bengals. Shane Waldron replaced him and somehow it's Goff being suddenly lazy and not bothering to put in the time? So it's not a coach who has never been a QB coach and a personal friend of McVay's isn't the problem? Yeah sure. Goff was great under Taylor but stunk under Waldron? Yeah sure. Now in Detroit, he's back to throwing dimes and WOWing his new HC. Uh huh.....

McVay is a great HC but to think he doesn't have his flaws is simply not true and I'm glad he's here. But that doesn't blind me to his issues. Now with Stafford, he has a plug-and-play QB. Remember in Washington Sean was an assistant and later OC so it was part of his job to oversee the QB development. As a HC he doesn't have the time though it is his responsibility to get that QB coach.

I think it's been a pretty good off season so far. Lost some players that i didn't want to see go but I understand that we can't keep and pay everybody and if McVay thinks the decisions he's made are in the best interest of the team then I can get behind that.
They've attempted to address all the issues and holes in the roster with the draft and FA. Nobody knows whether the moves that they made will work out or not so we'll just have to wait and see. Im feeling confident about it.

I remember when I used to read ESPN and enjoy it. Not sure if the difference now is them or myself. But honestly nowadays the only good rag is the Athletic. They have standards and it's refreshing tbh.
I get ESPN+ for free and still haven’t created an account.

I’ve wondered the same as you and analyze and reanalyze myself. Idk but I really think their journalistic integrity went to shit at a peak about 5 years ago along with most journalism in general. It seem likes it recovered a bit compared to how it was but it’s still in that valley if we were looking at their integrity rating on a graph chart.

I don’t know who this ESPN genius is since no link was provided, but I’ll say this.

His or her take is absurd. The ignorance is breathtaking.

Actually, this draft looks like it has lots of potential and the Stafford trade was a blockbuster positive move for the Rams.

Can’t believe that someone actually gets paid to write such crap. SMH...
You were ripping this draft a month ago... said Snead & McVay didn't know what they were doing... make up your mind.

“QB is, by far, the most important position in football!”
“Stafford is a big upgrade over Goff!”

So how would you rate the Rams’ offseason?”

“Terrible.”

Yes, I was underwhelmed immediately after the draft, but it was because of my own ignorance.

After studying the players selected it became obvious that the Rams knew infinitely more than I did about their needs and the values of other players.

Consequently, I’ve re-learned the value of respecting the efforts of proven professionals on these matters.

As to the author of this piece? I stand by my description of absurd. The Stafford trade alone made this a good offseaso.

Right. It's not like Goff ever did that on the field, or ever showed he could be a very successful qb in the NFl.

Give the dude a break man, let's see what he does in Detroit.

If it broken don't try to fix it. Getting rid of Goff and adding Stafford was the best move by any team this off season and very well could put the Rams in the Super Bowl! I don't want to call anyone out but whoever started this thread needs to get a clue.

I think rating the Rams offseason as so bad is a little misinformed. Keeping Dwill and Floyd in the building was real important.

Losing JJ and not bringing in another Proven Olineman will cost us games. That doesn’t even addresses finding Whitworths successor and shipping out multiple premium draft picks for a QB of the same QB rating as your scapegoat one. One that is nearing the end of his prime.

Then there is the midget WR pick.

Lots of risks are in play, lots of players need to step up to fill voids of solid, dependable cogs.

One word: Chemistry. Some times certain dynamics work, other times they don’t. No one knows what this new brew will produce.

Either Way… GO RAMS!

A lot different. Stafford plays for the fucking RAMS..... and this is kinda.... Ya know... a RAMS forum?

What are you even talking about? I have no dislike for Goff and can't wait to see how he does in Detroit. I was simply laughing at the comment about him being amazing in OTAs.....give ME a break man. I swear some of you just cannot let that trade go.

I'd say lets see how many of these draft picks are starters 3 years from now before we decide if this draft was a success.

Right. You're the one who brought up our former qb just to diss him or diss a comment by his coach.
