it makes me wonder sometimes, McVay is the best thing to happen the Rams since KW, but was/is it a Machiavellian twist of fate that Goff got the worst center in the NFL, who has since been cut to make an improvement for Stafford? Just wondering because i feel that Goff was treated rather shabbily at the end of his tenure.

Say What - train ?

There has been some bad Centers with The Rams.Tell me how a 2 time SuperBowl team would sign a Center that was so bad,or a RG that helped The Rams & Jared Goff go to a SuperBowl.

I don't think we had a good offseason. *ducks*
it all comes down to Stafford, if he is who McVay thinks he is, good offseason, he gets hurt and we can kiss this year goodbye. One thing about Goff, the kid could take a beating and keep on playing. We shall see

i watched all the games, Blythe may be a great guy, but as a blocking center for a non-mobile QB he pretty much sucked, Goff was sprinting left or right all season as the middle of Rams offensive line collapsed

Blythe was okay as a RG because he had Sullivan helping him out

Sullivan had Saffold to his left so he basically focused all this attention to helping Blythe out when he didn't have anyone to block which happened frequently.

Plus Blythe is okay blocking on pass plays when he isn't being bull rushed like he frequently was when he was a center on third and long.

Blythe is adequate on first down and (second down plays under 8 yards) but absolutely horrible on second and long and third and long plays. Plus he is terrible on third and short plays.

Media guys only know names. Reality is we have four average-above average offensive linemen and then a battle at RG headlined by a former 3rd round pick.

The drive destroying center we had is gone.

Problems on offense last year:

C - fixed
WR depth/speed - fixed
QB play - fixed

Great off-season for the offense

Problems on special teams:

Coach - replaced

Coverage - drafted several guys who they project to excel on special teams

Great off-season for special teams

Replacements needed for defense:

Hill - already on roster and draft pick
Ebukam - already on roster and draft pick
JJ - already on roster
Brockers - already on roster and draft pick
Fox - draft pick

For offense and special teams it was an outstanding off-season. We will go from bottom third of the league in both to top 10 in both which is a big swing.

On defense the question for me will be could we have found another EDGE project for $5 million AND signed JJ for the money we paid Floyd? For this decision to work out we will need Floyd to at least repeat his performance from last season.

Questionable off-season for the defense - but should still be a top 10 unit

FWIW imo McVay may have overestimated the potential of the O last year and was very frustrated when it seemed to underachieve.

Anyway it seems clear now that McVay realized when acquiring Stafford that some positions needed to be improved around him to give him better support. Blythe out, Corbett in. Speed receivers in.

Yeah - GOFF OUT for 2 - FIRST & a 3Rd.
Mcvay was going to roll with a backup QB instead of Jared Goff as well.

—I like Jared Goff but obviously Mcvay was done with him. Still paying for Gurley as well. Once again all Austin Blythe’s fault & he only signs with the 2 time SuperBowl team.Wow - KC doesn’t have a clue.

Very shallow & drinking your home made Kook-aide. Might need to let things ferment before things make a better image ?

This off season started with previous drafts and player acquisitions. The Rams or any team can't keep all free agent players. The key is to have replacements really to play.

The Rams drafted Hopkins knowing Everett would not be resigned. Jefferson was drafted to replace Reynolds. Multiple safeties to compete for replacing Johnson. So they are ready to move on. Other previous moves setup for departing players

Stafford will lead the rejuvenated offense with multiple new speedy targets. Another possible solid draft. Considering little cap room the Rams should be ready for a SB rum.

I didn't read the 50 previous posts, but I include the trade for Matt Stafford as part of the offseason. We WIN with that move alone.

The only thing McVay cares about is winning. There was no kind of scheme going on.
Goff is no longer here , because of Goff. It has nothing to do with anything else.
There is a reason why most of the team was disappointed that Wolford couldn't
play in the Packer game
Everything that has happened to Goff was brought on by himself and his lack
of 100 percent commitment to the team.

No problem if you disagree (really not sure if you do or not based on your post) but man....read that last sentence again. I have no idea what you're trying to say.

Your kool-aide glasses might become clear how wrong you are basically.I do disagree, but it’s all good. You make some good points. - Train though I’m starting to question after all these years.

You're certainly welcome to disagree.
If you haven't read Lindsey's article, then I recommend it
Dont need to read a article to know if a player is giving 100% of his commitment to the team or not. If jg wasn't 100% for the team he wouldn't have played with a broken thumb when he was on the way out anyway. He had zero reason to do that for the rams looking back in hindsight.
