And/or signing of Ramsey with a large signing bonus spread out over 4-5 years and minimum 2020 salary.

All I see when I read that is we are back to the youngest team in the NFL again ;)
Seriously though that is pretty ugly when you also factor in that is with the 3rd lowest signed player contracts as well

$6 million over?

That’s nothing. Stadium is $2.5 billion over.

Kroenke tapping into special California funding to close these gaps...

Cap is only counting the top 51 salaries so that part in regards to number of players signed, is meaningless.

The good thing is they are in good cap shape for 21'. That is what this is all about. Spotrac has them at $65M and that includes Whitworth who likely won't be back. Also Brockers & or Robinson can easily be moved on from as well.

So they could be in the $80M range.

If they can put together a good draft, then they are in a great position to extend their star players like Kupp, Ramsey, & Johnson.... Maybe even one of Everett or Reynolds. And they could still be FA players next year.

What are we with regards to dead money at this point? I know Cooks and Gurley alone count for about 42 million.

If there was a trophy for worst cap management, I think we'd be a shoo-in this year.

I like Reynolds way more than Everett. Everett still needs to prove he can be consistent where as Reynolds in my mind is a lot closer to be a consistent player

I mean it's mainly bad luck. No one expected Gurley to fall off a cliff like he did and Cooks just isn't on the field enough. It's not like they signed free agents they were in house players that they had some bad luck with. Glad they had the balls to make the decisions they made, though. I think we'll be better off for it and not just in the long term. Wouldn't be surprised if the Rams are better this year then last.

"Fall off a cliff"? He had one bad year, and there's an argument to be made he was just being used wrong (and had a garbage offensive line). History is littered with players who had a "bad year" and then came back as strong as ever. Will he still have "fallen off a cliff" if he goes for 1500 yards in Atlanta?

Cooks, sure he has missed time and is always at risk of a head injury, but every palyer in the league is one head injury from retirement. It's actually costing us more to NOT have him on our roster.

Luck has nothing to do with it. It's poor cap management. Even if we go along with the theory that neither of these players will ever amount to anything again (which, again, I doubt), it was still our executive office that decided to hand out a contract 2 years before they had to to Gurley and overpaid Cooks from day 1.

Better this year than last? With everything we've lost and the fact we have no flexibility? God, I want to get a sports book license just to start taking bets from the optimistic. This is a 5 win team.

Sure it was bad luck but RB's have always held a very short shelf life. Long term RB like Otis Anderson, Emmit Smith, Walter Payton, Adrian Peterson, Frank Gore, Curtis Martin, John Riggins, LeSean McCoy & Marshawn Lynch are very rare.IMO Gurley came into the NFL with short shelf life stamped on his resume.

I still think that McVay desires a clone of ex Skins RB Chris Thompson playing in his backfield.

Wait...I thought that was the main reason we sucked when Fisher was our coach???

But..He kind of did.

Here... I’ve stacked the last 3 seasons. He went from “green” to “red” suddenly, using 4.0 YPC as line.

4 of the 5 final “green” his total yards were under 100.

There is a cliff. And it’s around the KC game where we saw him tackled out of bounds hard.

It was certainly a contributing factor but I would not say the main reason. You need leadership and now we have veteran leadership in important places. Whit, Donald etc... are a far cry from Kenny Britt and Co.

Youth alone isn't the problem but youth needs grounding and a losing locker room like Fish had for years is usually not a good place for young players.
Our locker room is not a losers locker room so I think that there are a lot of variable's
in our favor now vs Fish

He got hurt in 2018. And last year...again, maybe he has some health issues, but it didn't really look like it when he was on the field. What it looked like was he was never handed the ball enough to get a rhythm, the O-line failed to get him *any* holes, and McVay's game planning took a major step back (as did his unwillingness to adjust to game conditions). Everyone said Peterson was washed up when he got shipped out of MN, too, and look what happened there.

No big deal. They'll move some money around via restructures. They had a bunch of cap accelerate from future years into 2020 because of Gurley's release and Cooks's trade.
