Thought this article might be worth reading since reality of cap restrictions & the cost of a way past his prime starting LT is being discussed here.....

Those horrendous Rams guaranteed contracts
View attachment 33555
The Rams are struggling under the NFL Salary cap ceiling in 2020 because they loved to hand out lots of guaranteed dollars to players and do so over long term deals. The Rams are now struggling under the aggregate weight of too much money in the hands of too few players. I’ve been saying Gurley could be traded as well as Cooks. In fact you like Big Rob Havenstien because he is a veteran. I’ll laugh at that because Brewer & Evans can handle that spot. If not Edwards could be that guy.
My point there is by trading Havenstien it will allow Whitworth to continue to be the Payton Man of the Year again,as well as mentoring the young line.
This gives The Rams time to evaluate Noteboom and if he is the LT to take over for Whitworth. Let’s say The Rams are going to be out of the playoffs & 7-9. Well Noteboom can get playing time at LT & maybe locked up to a guaranteed contract at a price that is fair for both sides.
The Rams have a couple young RB’s and can hopefully find a stater?? Watch the Super Bowl, or rewatch the Green Bay game.
There was a young RB that is going to be tough for the next few seasons for a great contract.
The thing with Snead is he has always said dumb as things that PISS me off. Devon Cook was an easy choice for drafting a RB, his thing was there is only one Football
The other one was what he said about Corey Littleton’s contract. I think he believes he can fill those positions easy
with below average depth.

I’m a McSnead fan, but Demoff has always over paid all the way back in his early St. Louis Days !!! When JZ held SJ39 out it pissed me off. The Rams could have drafted Cutler knowing Bulgers contract was coming up. Instead they over paid for him & held SJ39 out. SJ39 had one of the best seasons in NFL history under Scott Linehan. After that the Rams O”Line has never been rebuilt right.
I like this young group & think they allow it to be a strength for seasons to come. I think The Rams can find a solid RB & MLB in the draft.
With all the high cost then why not bring in players in the draft ??? McSnead has done well in the draft.

Thank GOD Big whit is coming back for another year!! Gives the Rams lots of options for 2020 O-line, draft, and free agency.

Not sure how they are gonna pay him, but that's Demoff and McSnead's job.

And here I just did a mock last night with him not coming back :D
My reading comprehension must be poor I did not get all that "LA RAM connection" information from that tweet....

Yes , I certainly glad to see this great professional & human being is feeling better & desires to play in the NFL somewhere in 2020.... Did it state that he was going to sign a cap friendly contract with the Rams?

Rams are a salary cap funds depleted team? Could he be speaking of coming back to play for the Chargers/ Raiders/ 9ers/ Cards ?

I think the key word here is return. He’d be returning to the Rams. If he wasn’t playing for the Rams it would be come back to play. Also there is the follow up tweet.

Best news of off season, what i'd like to know, why can't Noteboom pay guard?

Back in the day, guard was where lineman who didn't have the feet to play tackle were placed
train

that's the trouble noteboom has the feet for ot but not the power for og

Idk why exactly but he just did not look good up to his injury. Guard requires greater strength and low center of gravity where LT tends to be quicker feet and hands. At least as far as pass blocking goes. LT you mostly have toworry about the edge rusher (generally speaking) where guard requires you to be in sync with guys on both sides of you. Maybe with experience he could become adequate. After all he was starting his first games in the NFL at a new position so wouldnt rag on him too much. But he certainly looked uncomfortable at guard compared to tackle.

There's no silver bullet option at LT next year, having Whitworth back is definitely a good option compared to some "meh" choices.

He won't be elite but he'll be okay to good and it we were to somehow upgrade guard next to him we'd actually probably be in pretty decent shape.
