The casual fan might not have a clue, but anyone who has paid close attention to Rams draft videos understand that this may be a significant loss.
So it’s significant due to the videos? Interesting take. But I think it’s more about the overall success of the Rams organization and not just one person. Remember when the savior Brad Holmes got plucked? The 2023 and 2024 draft classes for the Rams have been exceptional.

you actually think Snead is the one spending thousands of hours looking through every player in a given years draft class ?

I'm not trying to down playing Snead as a GM , I'm just talking about who is in charge of the draft , from "start" to draft day

No. It's because he was a significant voice in the draft process which was pointed out in one of the videos.

It doesn't mean that one believes that the team is going to fall apart which seems to be the lean implied towards anyone who points this out.

BTW, Brad Holmes got plucked about a month earlier in the offseason and the first draft class post his departure wasn't even close to the 2023 & 2024 draft classes.

Good organizations are going to develop good people and then ultimately lose them. You have to expect that the standards and processes remain in place to identify new blood that can not only do the job, but bring in new & better ideas.

Tangentially related, the Rams have been drafting exceptionally well as of late, there's likely going to be a reversion to the mean at some point whether this guy left or not.

That really goes without saying.

But I don't believe that any NFL personnel department wants to lose a significant voice two months before the draft.

That doesn't mean that they will far apart. It's just not ideal.

Consider timing. By the time February and March roll around, the draft team has already done 90% of their assessments on players. At least per Jourdan.

So the players they selected that year had a lot of Holmes input and influence. It would be more compelling if you said the next year was subpar.
And that really sucks even more. The Rams pay him all season to scout players and then when it's time to use that knowledge he hauls ass.

I wonder how that works. Do the Rams get copies of all of his notes?

Even if they did it stinks that the Jaguars get his years work for free.

Maybe GM/scout hiring should have a time frame, like only after the draft.

Yes. Look at some teams that drafted well in the past for a few years. Seattle had a great run, the Saints did too. But you still get a few teams that figured out the formula. The Packers and Ravens seem pretty consistent. I keep hoping that Snead has figured something out by using the leadership test, picking more mature players and looking for that dawg mentality.

Lazy assumption.

Not only is Gladstone a loss in the scouting department as a big part of Les’s team, he’s likely to take a few of the Rams scouts with him, just before the draft, which sucks. This means Rams player intel will go along with them.
Lazy assumption? I didn't assume anything.

I just said some people will get dramatic about some person they never even heard of/

Sorry that's silly.

Not even saying he is a loss or not. But do yourself a favor and don't concern yourself much about it - because it's not worth it.

Most Rams fans on here know who he is. He’s been mentioned during and after the draft every year for the last few years. Saying that Rams fans (I’m assuming you mean here at RoD) don’t know who he is is the lazy assumption.

Sorry but I call BS - can you find a thread in the last 5 years with his name mentioned?

he’s been mentioned several times over the last five years. If you don’t follow the after draft stuff then you wouldn’t know who he is. If you don’t read the Athletic then you wouldn’t know.

Plus I don’t see that many fans here fretting over the loss.
