Michigan Wolverines CB David Long visited Los Angeles Rams

Is David Long an option for the Rams when it comes to a future starter at cornerback?

With the uncertainty at the cornerback position for the Los Angeles Rams post-2019, it’d make sense to look towards the future when it comes to potential starters at the position. That’s why it’s great news that Michigan Wolverines CB David Long had a pre-draft visit with the Rams already:

Note: This is an unreliable source, so please take it with a grain of salt

Michigan CB David Long, told @SiriusXMNFL that he's completed visits with the #LARams, #Lions, and #Bucs. #NFL #NFLDraft #Rams #GoBlue

Long is a freak athlete at the corner position who stands 5’11” and 196 lbs. His size (not so much) and “grabiness” are generally my only drawbacks when it comes to his tape, because Long is a fantastic cover corner otherwise. He excels as a man-to-man coverage option who has lateral quickness, sticky coverage, and unmatched agility. Long would be a logical replacement for a guy like CB Aqib Talib after 2019 as his contract ends after the season. Long lined up in press-man coverage on nearly every snap, so what Defensive Coordinator Wade Phillips will expect from him wont be a massive transition.

My 2 cents here...he is from LA. Strictly a press corner. Expected to be on the board about the time Snead is on the clock in the late 3rd round with his #94 & #99 selections. IMO is the perfect replacement for Marcus Peters in 2020.

When did we meet with David Long Jr.? I like both David Longs a lot. David Long from Michigan (CB) is an absolute pest in press coverage. He's small but physical and scrappy. He smothers WRs in coverage and doesn't make anything easy. David Long Jr. from West Virginia (ILB) looks like a Day 3 special teams demon who is also an intriguing ILB. He's small (5'11" 230ish), but he is incredibly athletic (4.43 40), instinctive, and physical. He's also a great blitzer (which Wade values).

According to the downtown Rams tracker it was a private workout. No idea exactly when.

I don't know that he'll be available in round three, good cb's go early.

Alabama State OT Tytus Howard visits Los Angeles Rams

Is Howard a potential option to replace Big Whit in the future?
By Sosa Kremenjas Apr 16, 2019

If you’re looking for more pre-draft visits, you’ve come to the right place. Alabama State’s OT Tytus Howard is in town visiting the Los Angeles Rams today, per Rotoworld’s Josh Norris:

I'm told Alabama State OL Tytus Howard is visiting the #Rams on Tuesday pic.twitter.com/Ld4IYWAAig

— Josh Norris (@JoshNorris) April 16, 2019
Howard is an absolute mountain of a man as he stands 6’5” tall and weighs 322 lbs. Not only that, but he’s got the prerequisite arm length (34”) many teams require from their offensive tackles. Howard is a quick and explosive athlete who had a solid combine, and was a Senior Bowl attendee.

Howard is a likely day-two draft selection who needs to continue to refine his technique, but has the athletic requirements and quickness to make a worthy project. NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein has Howard compared to Desmond Harrison who went undrafted in 2018, though that was due to off-field reasons and not ability.

Not only is the Rams’ left tackle Andrew Whitworth advanced in age, he only has one year remaining on his contract. Whitworth took a few days to mull retirement this offseason, though it was ultimately an easy choice for him to return in 2019. An offensive tackle draft pick could be a smart move to groom behind Whitworth for the future as incumbent Joe Noteboom may resort to starting at left guard following the departure of Rodger Saffold.

Makes sense. Even if Noteboom is to replace Whitworth eventually, they need better depth at OT.

Interviews and private workouts are now done, we may hear about some that went on before today but that's it until the draft.

TCU EDGE L.J. Collier to visit Los Angeles Rams

On we go with the pre-draft visits.
By Sosa Kremenjas@QBsMVP Apr 17, 2019, 12:49pm CDT

usa_today_12159207.0.jpg

Another day, another pre-draft visit. This time its TCU Horned Frogs edge L.J. Collier who is set to visit the Los Angeles Rams, per Drew Davison:

TCU’s L.J. Collier has Top 30 visits set up with Bears, Vikings, Chiefs, Cowboys, Dolphins, Lions, Eagles, Seahawks, Titans and Rams.

— Drew Davison (@drewdavison) March 29, 2019
Collier is a senior prospect who spent four years at TCU racking up a total of 82 tackles, 20.5 tackles-for-loss, and 14.5 sacks. Collier was an average-at-best tester at the NFL Scouting Combine, though athleticism was never really his game. Collier is a powerful defensive end who has endless power in his punch and uses his strength to beat offensive tackles.

NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein projects Collier as a second-round pick, though there’s been whispers among league circles that Collier could land in the first-round when it’s all said and done.

Collier probably doesn’t project perfectly into a 3-4 defense as he’s better suited to have his hand in the dirt, though the transition has been made before (even for guys who are better suited one way or the other). Collier is also a senior prospect who participated at the Reese’s Senior Bowl.

What's he talking about? Collier is a 5-Tech in our scheme, not an OLB.

Memphis Tigers RB Darrell Henderson visits Los Angeles Rams

Darrell Henderson has gotten late first-round hype, could the Rams really be in the market for a running back at that spot?

https://www.nfl.com/prospects/darrell-henderson?id=32194845-4e05-4456-6f99-3e76d883b110

Overview
He checks in slightly undersized, doesn't have great vision and runs with a narrow base that makes him easier to tackle, but so far, those concerns haven't slowed him one bit. Big-play production is impossible to ignore, but his running style makes him best-suited to a complementary slasher role in a spread-based attack. In basketball, Henderson would be the explosive sixth man with the ability to swing certain games in your favor if he catches fire. On the ground or out of the backfield, Henderson can catch fire.
Strengths

  • Home-run hitter doesn't begin to describe his explosive production
  • Averaged 8.9 yards per carry over last 344 attempts
  • Movement has electric feel to it
  • Quick acceleration turns to get-away long speed
  • 43 carries of 15-plus yards and 11 total touchdowns of 54-plus in 2018 alone
  • Unusual contact balance for narrow-base runner
  • Keeps feet moving at all times
  • Hits and spins out of contact
  • More physical than expected as run finisher
  • Used on drop-offs and screens out of backfield
  • Maintains potency as a pass catcher
  • Shows ability to track and adjust down the field

if you're looking for what position they may be considering as a priority, look for the most names in each category that are projected as late first early second rounders..

Looks like edge and safety, maybe OG/C
