J.R. Reed is my first choice, but they seem to like JuJu Hughes.

Yeah - Scott has been okay filling in as a Safety.

I think RAMsey & Troy Hill play more inside. Fuller is the FS. D.Williams has been nursing an injury(hand?).
David Long has been time at CB & can play Nickle.
John Johnson is the guy that is the guy. I see this being his last season with The Rams, but Staley likes him a lot.

Scott was getting some burn on defensive plays. Who will rotate into his position with injuries to Rapp and Burgess?
One would suspect that would be the case when compared to the NFL games played by JJ III & even the rookie Jordan Fuller's snaps with the defense. Scott when used has usually been the deep safety when on the field.

When I see the final results of an opponent's completed pass play, often it's that deep safety name & no# is what I am seeking & viewing. But if I get a chance to see the replay ....the actions of the CB can be the root of the completion & deserves partial responsibility too.

In the past that has been the case involving some of my negative thoughts on safety Taylor Rapps coverage skills. I do not like it when Rapp ends up in that single high safety position when the snap takes place. Rapp is far better closer to the LOS.
J.R. Reed is my first choice, but they seem to like JuJu Hughes.
UDFA FS JuJu Hughes is more of a mix of RS/SS whereas UDFA JR Reed is more SS. Hughes's description is what I would attach to Nick Scott, far more deep safety. I sure did like Reed's performances over the year playing in the SEC. JR Reed has some of Jordan Fuller's skills in him.

Rams are very fortunate that JJ III & Jordan Fuller have the skills to play deep safety without any issues. Staley can move rookie JR Reed up closer to the LOS where it would place his abilities where they can be utilized better.

Hughes has been with the Rams since APR 25 2020. Having been through training camp with the team sure would give him a better chance to get snaps with this defense this Sunday afternoon. Reed came to the Rams after being cut by the Jags after the regular season began SEP 9 2020.

As of this moment, I would expect that OC/LG/RG reserve Allen will be the #9 OL on the bench this Sunday Afternoon. I do not see a call up of Jamil Demby. The versatility of OL Coleman Shelton is sure to keep Demby remaining on the PS. Anchrum might be able to back up four OL positions too.

Rams promote Jake Gervase from practice squad as COVID-19 replacement

The Los Angeles Rams are dealing with some COVID-19 trouble this week ahead of Sunday’s game against the New York Jets, losing Nick Scott and Bobby Evans for Week 15. They were placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Friday and will miss the game, which opened the door for the Rams to promote a player from the practice squad as a replacement.

The team called up Jake Gervase to the active roster for Sunday against New York with Scott, the No. 3 safety, ruled out.

#LARams transaction: we’ve activated DB Jake Gervase from the practice squad as a COVID-19 replacement.

Gervase is a former undrafted free agent and appeared in two games for the Rams last year, playing 13 total defensive snaps.

Sean McVay said rookie JuJu Hughes will get increased reps against the Jets with Scott out, but Gervase could also get a chance to play.

Look guys. I'm telling you that Whit will not play again this season.
At the VERY LEAST, he'll give it a try during our first playoff game, and will realize it hurts and is not stable.

We all love Whit. But his season is over. I promise.
I wish I was wrong.

edit: No I do not claim to have a crystal ball. This is only my opinion based on what I saw the night of the injury during that particular play, and Whit's demeanor afterwards when headed to the locker room.
My crystal ball states that you will be eating crow come the first playoff game.

I was just thinking today, well... at least no one got hurt yesterday. Then I read the Cam Aikers tweet above. That high-ankle sprain might bother him for the rest of the season. This is not good.

Props to the kid playing almost a whole game on it though. He would have won us the game if not for a few inopportune penalties while running on a high ankle sprain.

Neither of our young RBs can stay healthy. Very troubling. Especially as we will need Akers to have any real playoff hopes

There have to be differing levels of severity. I can't recall the last time I saw a guy play on a high-ankle sprain and not look severely hobbled.

A significant blow for sure, but Akers had only recently been getting the ball consistently; we’ve won games this year with Henderson as 1a and Brown as 1b.

I’m impressed he continued to play on it and had some nice runs (penalties notwithstanding). Maybe this means it’s not so bad??

Usually 3-5 weeks for a high ankle.
