What exactly is at risk here though. This new strain doesn't seem to be lethal. In fact there are somewhere around what, 300 players to date that have tested positive for Covid. Has anyone died?

I think that matters. If you don't consider that side of things then you can't know whether your approach is appropriate.
I can't recall anyone even remotely getting more than mild symptoms. Even with the mean Delta variant.

I am all about being on the safe side but there is also being stupid about all of this. And it depends on who you talk to or listen to of what side is the stupid side.

I for one in life know there are unintended consequences with most things. I personally try not to make an issue of something that does not exist.

Seahawks placed six players on the COVID-List today.

RB Travis Homer, CB D.J. Reed, RT Brandon Shell, DE Kerry Hyder most notable.

Is my understanding correct that beginning Monday, if a player tests positive, and is asymptomatic and vaccinated, they may be removed from the COVID list?

Nope, I don't think so

Still gotta pass certain requirements to get off list, but easier to do so now. (Still need 2 negative or "below threshold" tests.)

Mainly, vaxxed players are no longer required to be tested unless they present with symptoms, so the hypothetical you mentioned would only occur if a player voluntarily requested a test

New rules are a bit confusing, but I think that's correct

No.

Unfortunately, it's not that simple.

There are some posts on this thread explaining it. I have one on page 17. The best I can summarize it.

There's an NFL memo (first half of page three) explains it in detail.

There is also an ESPN article. On page 19 of this thread, I posted the following excerpt from that article:
"In creating the new return-to-play protocols, the NFL and NFLPA focused on a new metric that measures the viral load of a player, known as the "cycle threshold" (CT). In essence, the CT value can measure whether a player is still contagious, even if in some cases he would still test positive on a traditional test."

Per Peter Schrager, Jalen Ramsey is coming-off the COVID-List.
Looks like Kareem Orr and Grant Haley have also come-off the COVID-List today.

I suggest this because the Rams' site (the roster) has been up-dated again; and has been quickly and correctly up-dated the past few days. Orr is listed on the 53-man-roster, and Haley is back on the PS.

Big holes right now are RT (Havenstein, Noteboom, Evans and Anchrum all still on the List), and at TE where, without Higbee, the Rams have just Blanton (pleasant surprise), Hopkins (fairly useless in my opinion) and the just signed Markway on the PS.

Oh boy. An active Seahawks outbreak would seriously jeopardize this game being played.

As of last night, the Seahawks had about 7 players on the COVID-List, and the Rams had 22.

I believe the new testing rules may now be in place where vaccinated players are to be tested ONLY if they have symptoms. As a result, I think a lot of positive cases will go un-diagnosed.

Fingers crossed.

Just read where WFT just lost its best OL Brandon Scherff to the COVID-List. So he's out tomorrow.

Not a question of going 'in reverse'.

Players can still test positive and be ruled-out.

The Rams could still lose a top-player before tomorrow's game, like the WFT just did.

Glad that Evans is off, hell even good that we get Reeder back. I'm truly hoping that is not the only guys that are getting off the list today however.

Agree, with all the OTs on the COVID-List, Alaric Jackson might have needed to start.

The problem with this grouping is that Havenstein's back-up is Noteboom; and Noteboom's back-up is Evans; and Evans back-up may be Anchrum ... and they are ALL on the List.
Yeah McVay gonna be like: "Wolf you've got this one."
