@LACHAMP46 I guess this settles our bet. I’ll let @flv decide
The bet was that Cooks would get more annual than Watkins, 16 mill. And Cooks also got 16 mill but for 2 more years.
So I guess I lose... but the Rams won!
How much was the wager, because if @LACHAMP46 can't collect then I will in his stead.
Cooks has great numbers, looks great on paper. I watched most of his games last year and I didn’t see a player who was a difference maker outside of about 3 games.

I like the player, not crazy about the deal. Should he be paid like a top 5 Wr?
I watched games that the patriots player last year also, and I have to concur with the majority here who said that Brady instead of going deep to Cooks was thrown g underneath stuff. Why would he do that even when Cooks was open? Because Brady no longer has the arm to go deep.

By the way you said it was due to having a hall of fame qb throwing to him that Cooks had such good numbers last year.
Now you're saying that he was not that good last year due to the fact that the games you watched he didn't stand out to you.

Which is it? You can't have it both ways just to justify your opinion.

Fear of only another 1 year rental WR was the only thing not making this offseason a grand slam to the moon. Now, it is complete. And as mentioned, leaves open a lot of doors the next couple of off seasons as far as tags go without having to worry about Cooks for it possibly. So have it free for others now.

I want to personally thank, Stan Kroenke, Kevin Demoff, Tony Pastoors, Les Snead and Sean McVay for bringing Brandin Cooks to the Rams and locking him up with a new contract extension today.

You got me mixed up with someone else. I never said any of that stuff. Brady can still go deep, shoot he is better now than 4 years ago. You got me confused with a different poster.

By the way why are you watching so many Patriot games? I watch because I live in Boston and it’s rhe only game on lol. But you?

i’ll wait to see how it all plays out but that is a lot of money. I like the player and the person and i think Mcvay can get a lot out of Cooks but i generally don’t like giving truckloads of money to WR’s.

so mixed feelings from me honestly.

Not the end of the world but not baking a cake over it either.
Who do you like giving mega money to ?

YES!!

I'm so happy that we got Cooks signed to an extension. It's a fair deal for both sides, and now, our wide receiver corps can dominate the opposition for years to come.

Mr. Demoff, if you're reading this, I want to say, thank you so much for being awesome!

Interesting that they would sign him before he played one down for the Rams but did not do the same for Sammy Watkins.

They may not have been feeling it as strongly for Sammy.
Many players get signed before playing a down. Watkins just did by the Chiefs, for example. So, I'm not worried we didn't sign a great player.

It seems McVay has had a man crush for a lot of years for Cooks. I guess the Rams weren't thrilled enough with Sammy to make him the guy for another 5 years. And you know what, I wasn't that thrilled with Sammy either. But, we're all spoiled from the Bruce/Holt years, so what do we know!

I hope we didn't lose him.
I liked champ too but I’m pretty sure that “503 and his cronies” post was the quintessential final straw, especially when you’re more or less on “double secret probation” Not a real shining moment, I cringed the moment i read it.

You call out a mod, especially when you’re fresh out of a “timeout” and you sorta corner said mod into a no brainer

Then again, maybe i have this all wrong

Oh, and utterly thrilled with the Cooks extension:yay:

If I had to payout max contracts for their respective positional costs it would be:

Ideally QB, LT, CB's, DE or pass rushing LB in a 3-4 , DT. Then Center, Guard.

Then WR/TE, MLB, RB.

Each situation is different depending on Rookie Contracts a team has.

I might want to reup Peters Contract next year or Suh, or save that money to replace Saffold or the right side of the Oline. Not to mention the Donald deal.

Dammit, you're right. Do you know how long I've been searching to prove I was right, only to find out I was wrong. Sorry about that. I hate being wrong, Dammit! You'd think I'd be use to bring wrong because I'm wrong a lot!

Now to deal with your question regarding watching the patriots. I'm a football junkie, the NFL, college football, and I still go watch high school games for the school I played football and basketball for.
So on Thursday, Sunday, and Monday I'm glued to the tv watching football, which means I watch all the teams, and the patriots are always on more than any other team.
Knowing the Rams were trying to get Cooks last year I paid closer attention to him, and it became obvious that Cooks needed to play on a team where the QB had a strong arm, so I was ecstatic when the Rams traded for him.

Did I tell you I hate being wrong? DAMMIT!

The point I was trying to make is that we were in a exact same situation with Watkins being on the last year of his contract yet they didn't sign him but they did make it a priority to sign Cooks.
