So glad that we're sticking with Havenstein, I know a lot of fans don't rate the right side of our line that much, but I disagree, I think Has is one of the best in the business at RT and Jamon compliments him well there, besides I'm a big believer in continuity in the line as a unit. So, lets see see the other guys start re-signing now![]()
I doubt they resign both guards. Noteboom and possibly Demby should be ready to start by next year, and the Rams need to start saving money somewhere. I figure one of the guards will be allowed to go free agent, and the Rams will take the pick. At least one OL will be drafted for depth, probably 2 this coming offseason, for security.
It depends how they see things panning out. I don't think that Demby is an upgrade on Jamon (at the moment) and I'd rather see Noteboom develop his craft at LT under big Whit's wing rather than get stuck in the boiler house at RG. I'd like to keep the o-line intact personally, but I know that Whit IS nearing hanging up his cleats (and possibly Sullivan too) It would be nice to send them off after winning a ring![]()
Some of you have a low view of Brown. i watch a lot of film on the Oline and he is a solid RG. In fact his power and quickness are top shelf for a guard in the run game. once he got the mental side figured out he was reallly solid. As a pass protector, he is also solid, only lacking in ability to lock on till the whistle. for the first 3 seconds he is money.
Having said that, he may be odd man out as we have a lot of options at guard right now and Saffold still has to get paid next year.
At left guard, replacing an All-Pro (Saffold) with a Blythe, Demby or Noteboom could potentially be a bigger drop off then replacing a Jamon Brown with a Noteboom or Demby.Well, I’m a JB fan.
But if I had to choose between extending JB or Saffold, it’s a no brainer.
It’s Saffold every single time. Besides, I think Saffold has another 3-4 Pro Bowl level years in him AND he might sign a Ram friendly 3rd contract extension.
If so, that would be a bargain that would be very hard to pass up.
You may have desired this even more than me & I know I was all in for making this OT the #1 UFA this upcoming free agency period. We both should have this look on our faces....This was on my wishlist for the Rams to do now. Very shrewd move by the front office. Rob's a guy who works hard, stays healthy, and has made big strides under this staff. He is in for a big season IMO and getting him now not only helps us down the road on cost but also means they don't need to potentially find bookend tackles in one offseason.
Now with Boom looking like a potential starter down the road and possibly Allen/Demby too things look so much better for this line. What a damn relief.
I'm with you and love me some Brown. Him and Havenstein just crushed defenders on runs to the right all season last year. Jerome is a keeper in my book, if doable. Some of you have a low view of Brown. i watch a lot of film on the Oline and he is a solid RG. Give me McVay, Snead & Demoff over any 3 humans on the same NFL team that operate and run their franchises.
These 3 wise men are the Golden Pyramid that gives us Rams fans hope for long term stability at the highest level in professional football. :yess:

I think this analysis of Brown is the closest to accurate I have ever seen. He has talent, knows how to use it, and is a bit lazy. Some of you have a low view of Brown. i watch a lot of film on the Oline and he is a solid RG. WOW, I wrote the same thing on another board. RUnyan is the 'typical' NFL RT that I love! Always hated him bec he was tough, smart, good....but Leonard Little did beat him in the NFCC in 2001, I believe....so did Kevin Carter in the super bowl....ya, Rob is not as tenacious.....but Runyan was the MOST tenacious there was.I compared him to Jon Runyan and it seems to be tracking that way so far. Bonus is he isn't dirty like Runyan, but still has the necessary mean streak in the run game. Pleasantly surprised and loving the numbers. The way the front office has elevated and stabilized the offense is remarkable.
