Great extension for both sides. One less OL/RT to worry about replacing. Robs solid run blocking and decent pass pro is worth the contract reported numbers. He may get a little better in the next few years. Go Rams!!

Solid run blocking is a little bit of an understatement. He was the #2 rated tackle in that area last year... I would think being the second best in the entire NFL would put you in the elite category.

Nice, hope he mentally washed off that stench known Fisher, Boras, and Boudreau's middle school offense

Some great news for Todd Gurley and the Los Angeles Rams.

The team announced they have agreed to terms with right tackle Rob Havenstein on a four-year extension. NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported, per a source informed, the deal is worth more than $32 million. He will be under contract through the 2022 season.

"We're excited to extend Rob with the Rams for another four seasons," coach Sean McVay said in a statement. "He's been a reliable member of our offensive line and maintaining consistency among that unit is important as we continue to grow offensively."

Havenstein has started all 43 career regular season games and one playoff game.

The second-round pick of the 2015 draft was a big part of an offensive line that helped Gurley earn AP Offensive Player of the Year in 2017 with a league-leading 2,093 scrimmage yards and 19 total touchdowns. It's no surprise that the Rams would lock him up.

It's hard not to be a weak link when you have three All-Pro caliber players on the left side and one of the best right tackles in the league on the right. I look at it this way: Jamon has improved a ton since his rookie year, and even with his suspension, I'd take him. If anything, it'll make his contract less expensive. And it'll hurt a lot less if Saffold goes to another team in free agency, gets injured, or shows signs of aging.

Exactly, Memento!

No shame in being 5th best on this OL, that’s for damned sure!

Gawd! Wouldn’t it be great to be able to extend Saffold for a reasonable 3rd contract?

I’m a big believer in the value of continuity on the OL. Sigh...

Durability along the offensive line can't be overstated. I like this.

This was on my wishlist for the Rams to do now. Very shrewd move by the front office. Rob's a guy who works hard, stays healthy, and has made big strides under this staff. He is in for a big season IMO and getting him now not only helps us down the road on cost but also means they don't need to potentially find bookend tackles in one offseason.

Now with Boom looking like a potential starter down the road and possibly Allen/Demby too things look so much better for this line. What a damn relief.

Havenstein and Brown were just mauling defensive players on runs to the right last year. Very happy Hav is staying around for a while!

What I was going to say, he's not the best tackle out there and the value of the contract represents that I think. But his durability so far adds to his value. Nothing worse than an o-line in constant flux.

Wonderful decision by this Ram Org. Makes me proud to be a Ram fan.

Rams are still looking @ getting new contracts for FIVE of their present OL cadre after this 2018 season:
Starting LG Rodger Saffold
Starting RG Jamon Brown
Four year reserve OT Darrell Williams
Two year reserve OC/OG
Two year reserve OT Cornelius Lucas

Then in 2019 Rams will deal with:
Starting All pro LT Andrew Whitworth
starting Former All Pro Center John Sullivan
Main interior reserve Austin Blythe

Do you have a link or tweet to him being the #2 run blocking tackle?

You need an effective oline for the offense to work, as we well know... Especially when you have investments to protect right behind it, in Gurley and Goff.

Nice surprise.

Love it!

Give me McVay, Snead & Demoff over any 3 humans on the same NFL team that operate and run their franchises.

These 3 wise men are the Golden Pyramid that gives us Rams fans hope for long term stability at the highest level in professional football. :yess:

McVay - positivity and a technician. Knows what he needs to make his offense work.

Snead - good scout and even better, knows how to recognize good scouts.

Demoff - the money man/contract expert who knows how to make the contracts/money work.
