We are also spoiled, having really solid and confident public speakers over the years, from Cooper Kupp to Jalen Ramsey to Matthew Stafford, Jared Verse, Kyren Williams and Davante Adams. Trent McDuffie looks like another good one, who can really speak on behalf of the team after a win or a loss. Lemon may just not be one of those guys.
I know this is also what you're saying but I wouldn't say we're spoiled, I'd say it's a concentrated effort to target players with that attribute.

Puka is another guy that I know can come off as silly sometimes but is also an excellent communicator.

I don't know if being a bad interview is considered a "character concern" but I do think we have to remember at the end of the day you're not just drafting a football player but also making a contract with a human being. And if you don't vibe with that human being, even if he isn't necessarily a bad person, it makes it hard to pull the trigger on a guy as a high draft pick. Makai is a talented player but I don't know if he's a great fit for this team with the emphasis McVay places on effective communication and leadership.
Got it.
I agree that teams have every right to back away over a poor interview, that contract is an investment.
On the other hand I think it’s a bit sanctimonious for folks to equate that to poor character and compare it to a player who will be in prison for the next decade or so

Well if your talking about Jalen Ramsey. You can THANK COVID for that.He built his confidence in conference calls & wear his cover up helped.
He always did his talking on the field. Then again he loved putting ona show & had a lot of anger.

I really enjoyed his growth as a player & kept it together to help The Rams win a Superbowl.

Yeah... I can never trust anything he says. I also can't recall him EVER citing a source even when it is innocuous information. He just loves to throw out bullshit like his self created DA rumors that the Rams were looking to trade Adams. Nothing the Rams have done would indicate that was a consideration. McVay and Sneed were asked several times about any contract negotiations with Adams and every time I saw, they said they weren't even working on anything there. Paraphrasing - they just said he was already signed and would be a Ram next season so there wasn't really anything to do there. I firmly believe that was just something Foolio came up with out of thin air. And it seems he does this quite often.

Y'know... I hope he and Simms stay together in partnership. I can't stand either one. Anytime I see PFT, I can simply avoid reading or watching it. Two VERY punchable faces.

Question: how much of Rams interest in Brown may speak to how little they think of the WR talent at the top of the draft?

Not the depth of this class which universally is seen as a strong spot in an otherwise weak draft, but at the top - perhaps even the top 3.

I don't think this is what is happening, but ...

Wouldn't it be hilarious if this whole thing was a way to leak to Florio (douchebag) that they were concerned with the medicals so that the price goes down on AJ Brown purely to spite the Eagles for their assholic move last year with Willie Lampkin?

Again, don't think it is what is happening, but think it's a funny side effect either way.

Definitely should never be too extreme on judging off of one interview. I'm sure there's way more digging into a player's character than we are privy to. Wouldn't surprise me if they reach out to any daycare that babysat Baby Lemon :laugh4:

I'd be ok with that because fuck the Eagles. That was a bullshit move they pulled off last year. Talk about an obnoxious franchise and fan base. Only good they did was to keep the Whiners from making another SB appearance.

I'm not sure if that's really the case vs they are going to look into doing everything in their power to win a Superbowl ASAP with Stafford. Although a rookie WR can have an impact, I highly doubt it would be more than having a receiver the caliber of AJ. I'm sure Howie's price tag being too high was a big turn off for the Rams. That dude tries to swindle other GMs, thank goodness Snead said no thanks to his ass.

Yeah you're probably right, hard to argue a counterfactual. Still, I think we've seen rumblings of moves at RB in FA due to how poor the RB class is in the draft.

I like all the top 3 WR's fine (Okay, Tyson w/o injuries is pretty great) but it's not like they'd beat out Tet or Nabers or be at the top of many other WR classes.

The teams getting RBs didn't necessarily surprise me because you're right, this draft class is definitely lacking there. Add in the fact that the hardest part of the pro game is pass blocking for yhe newbies. Also agree there aren't as many alphas at WR but I also believe there are a lot of interesting WR options in this draft. Wouldn't surprise me if there's s few surprises in later rounds that do well in the NFL. Skyler Bell and Ted Hurst comes to mind.
