IMO I think the Rams are now going to carry 3 QBs this year and probably next year as well. When Wolford becomes a UFA they will still have another year with Perkins. If he develops on schedule I think they will talk to him and his agent about staying on a two-year deal. By that time Stafford's contract should be done and they will be looking at their next QB. I really think Perkins will be another Taysom Hill type of player. Homegrown QB who has grown up within McVay's system.

Stafford will be pushing 38 yrs old while Perkins will be 29. If Stafford looks like he can play longer and Perkins doesn't reach his potential, the Rams will have options. It's a good situation for the Rams to be in. If Stafford wins a couple of rings during his 5 years as a Ram he might be willing to stop playing and join the coaching staff. What a QB coach and passing game coordinator he would be.

What I see in Perkins isn't necessarily a superstar QB. What I see is a QB that would be a natural fit in McVay's offense to allow them to keep that Super Bowl window open for 10 years beyond Stafford. What Perkins has is perhaps one of the best QB mentors a young player could have. The wealth of information that Stafford can pass on to Perkins is potentially a difference maker in Bryce's career.

I see McVay keeping 3 QBs. There is no way I see Bryce clearing waivers.

If Perkins misses any game time they'll just direct snap to the RBs. McVay has that shit in the offense we saw in in the playoffs last year. They'll break it out.

would it be impossible for stafford to take a few snaps after all it would not hurt to bring in the first string and let them start to gel

So I did the math and you're saying we'll have McVay for at least the next 15 years.:thumbsup1::laugh2:

Well apparently McVay has Wolford on the hook for that so he's making good on his "no way Stafford plays preseason" quote lol.

Surprises me he'd risk his backup in preseason. Might mean they really want to look at the skill guys for those final cuts.

Wolford being a ERFA in 2022 sure to sign a contract that will keep him here until 2024 at least. Matthew Staffold being only 33 yr old now, the Rams could tie him up for close to a decade after this season. I see the QB room as outstanding with three very good QB's.

If I were McVay I'd play Wolford to get him some work and experience.
Wolford is basically considered a starter because he's a quarterback so I don't see it.

And I like watching Perkins play.

Nope, none of our RBs are even going to play at Denver. Throwing all night with Perkins and Tutu ocassionally running. We are about out of RBs.

I agree with all of this. But I like watching Wolford play as well, and we've seen much more of Perkins than Wolford.

Playing Wolford a bit in the last game could give more clarity on who to keep at WR or even OL & RB. Despite all of the Perkins hype I think Wolford is a much better option and could give backups the leadership and experience to let them be their best selves on the field.
