Frankly I'm tired of everyone, me included, giving McVay equal parts blame whenever Goff plays like total shit for a game. Why is it this guy has to have ideal circumstances in every game for him to pull one out for us in the end? Can you bail us out for once in your career Jared? Jesus.

Sadly, Jared Goff is very rarely going to "carry" the offense to win games. He's just not as great as that. Every now and then he will do it when everything is clicking on all cylinders. But other than that, he's a middle of the pack QB. I love the Rams but I'm not going to pretend he's a great QB. And it's his 5th year so he should be better by now!

Personally, i would be much more willing to have that sit Goff, replace Goff, release Goff, trade Goff conversation if that conversation included some "viable" solutions as to who and where our next franchise QB would be coming from.

Are ya gonna draft him in the first rd? Lol.
Which veteran are you gonna trade for and what are you going to give up for a QB who doesn't suck?

Without solutions that talk is just venting.

I know this message/question will get moved or deleted but before it does can someone please tell me how an a Professional NFL Team can outgain another NFL Team 471 yards to 145 yards AND LOSE???? My only guess is that it has to be A MISPRINT!!!

Seems like that would be pretty DIFFICULT!!!!

Do we have quick passing concepts?

Does Goff know how to read defenses and see blitzes?

Because it seems like you can only survive with one of those being "no". But I feel the answer is no to both of those things.

I'm definitely not an X's and o's guy but some things feel like common sense?

Agreed. He’s not improving with his audibles. I’m afraid this is probably Goff’s last year as a Ram. Wish he would have watched Tom Brady tape and emulated that. They have the exact same skill set.

I agree with everything except the "last year" comment.

Kyle is 5 years older than McVay----
And had his dad spoon feeding him NFL concepts since he was born, I get it. This wasn’t as much a knock on McVay as it was praise (ugh) for Kyle’s offensive scheme and how he can stick any half decent QB back there and put up points. They don’t ask Jimmy to do much yet they have a lot of success, imagine that. Meanwhile we have people consistently shitting on Goff for not being able to elevate his team’s play (a la Brady). Goff is good but maybe the offense needs to be adjusted a bit for his deficiencies - take the load off a bit per se.

Play calling was horrible, OL was worse, and COME ON GOFF!! You're better than that shit show!! We got away from what we do best, I didn't even recognize the offence in the first three quarters! The only good thing about the offense today was Henderson....that kid is a beast!! Defense can hold their heads up high. Will come back stronger after the bye and make Brady pay.

So all that Everett trade talk, how much ya think we need to give up for a team to take him off our hands?

I mentioned in one of the Miami threads that someone needs to remind McVay that Flores was the DC in the Super Bowl that shut the Rams offense down.

I didn’t actually mean that McVay would need to be reminded not to lose to the same exact scheme that he couldn’t solve in 2018.

I think this is a fair assessment of Goff. He’s a middle of the pack QB who can make all the throws and, on occasion, look like one of the elites. And there’s nothing wrong with that. I don’t know who we could replace him with tomorrow or in the off-season even if we could. He’s demonstrated that he can run McVay’s system but you have to start questioning if he needs an elite supporting cast around him to get you to the top of the mountain.

Kyle gets a lot of shit for his Super Bowl blunders and understandably so. But he’s also able to adjust his offense on the fly with Jimmy fuckin G as quarterback. I hate the Niners as much as any other Rams fan but I’ll give him credit where it’s due. He runs a very successful offensive system and he calls to his team’s strengths. You hate to see it.

He also has the balls to hold players accountable and bench Jimmy when he's hot garbage. Today's first half was one of the worst QB performances I can remember in a long time.

I alluded to this in one of my other posts. Not necessarily the benching but in the obvious situations where Jimmy is struggling with passing. He stops calling pass plays and has Jimmy hand the ball off play after play. He’s exceptionally good when it comes to identifying things that aren’t working and changing things up. When things get completely out of hand we’ve seen that he isn’t afraid of benching the kid. Those decisions are always going to draw a ton of differing opinions but those are the tough decisions he has to make as the head coach and offensive coordinator.

Yes Goff had a horrible game on making play decisions but as I mentioned in the game thread, McVay put him in these situations.

The entire first half Miami was blitzing 6 or 7 guys every pass play.

When that happens you screen them to death until they stop blitzing.

On their TD drive, they also put everybody in protection mode and Goff had time to make the plays.

Goff actually almost brought us back in the game except for Everetts drop at the end.

When that happened - Game over.

I think if Goff continues to turnover the football and not being able to make plays when nothing is working, the Rams will move on.

If you’re not an athletic QB in this league, you need to be really good at reading defenses. Goff still hasn’t figured it out. It’s troubling to say the least.

Agreed.
But no. He's not bad enough to start looking for another QB. We can win with him. He just needs a lot more supporting cast than the actual, real, elite QBs.

Sometimes I wonder if Goff wouldn’t be better in a different system?

He’s asked to do things other QB’s are not.

This is a RB friendly offense and the QB plays under center most of the time...all the play fakes, misdirection.

I still don’t think McVay has figured out attacking the 6 man front.
