Well.....

Brandon Lloyd was pretty fluid. Although, he wasn't here very long of course.

Yes he was good, but Kupp is really exceptional. Watch him on replays and just pay attention to his feet sometimes. He's really precise with his breaks.

Wasn't Lloyd the lazy type?

I don't remember him being lazy. I remember he fancied himself a diva, and didn't get along with all of his coaches, but that's about it. He's the guy that most closely resembled Bruce, imo, at the time. Very fluid hips, nice crisp breaks, and a decent catch radius. Kupp is really good too - don't get me wrong - but I just don't see him being as ... what's a good word here ... gelatinous when he runs.

If they ran, against a stacked front, and didn’t get it everyone would bitch about being predictable.

Even unsuccessful, it makes it harder for opposing teams to know what to expect. But being unpredictable does not always work. Gotta take the results good or bad, and keep being unpredictable at times.

Even though the numbers don’t show it, I thought last night was a positive step for Gurley. I thought he ran harder last night than he did in the first 2 games, ***and*** he was blocking his ass off. He was picking up the blitz perfectly almost every time. There was an end around to Woods in the second half where he laid the wood on someone 20 yards downfield. Goff’s refusal to check it down to him more often still puzzles the hell outta me. He’s open a ton and Goff hardly ever even looks his way.

I’ve seen some people talk about his body language but Gurley is traditionally a slow mover in between plays. He gets up slow, he walks slowly back the huddle, etc. Hes been doing that ever since college.
So did Jim Brown. Looked like he was done for after every tackle-- until he ran another 8 yards up the middle over the bodies of the d line on the next play.

As the game gets talked about...one thing that stood out to me was the countenance and body language of McVay before the game started.

I don't know if anyone noticed it...but it convinced me that the game was gonna be tough RIGHT THEN.

I'm mostly glad for the play of Donald and Brockers last night. Those two gave the Browns Oline fits.

One other thing...I wish Wade Phillips would get rid of the "split DTs" formation, with the middle open. I don't know what he calls it...but it gets the defense gashed!

Anyone know the formation I'm talking a out?

Oh IDK, boy wonder Jimmy Garoppolo had three turnovers and also fumbled twice more that the 49ers recovered and Daniel Jones had two turnovers (two fumbles) and Giant fans are treating him as a second coming of Yelberton Abraham Tittle Jr.
Y.A. could really sling it. To me, if anyone looks like him now it's Goff.

Did anyone notice the fu look the browns coach gave McVay on our last time out. I love that sort of stuff.

A few thoughts.

There's a book on the Rams now.

I read somewhere after the SB the Pats found some tells on the Rams based on personal. Depending on packages. TE I believe it was. I hope McVay has a scout on us every week. If not he should.

The O is sloppy. I think it's time the vets get some more work. Details are missing on this O.

I think I know what you mean. Goff in shotgun and Gurley takes off at he snap and right away Goff tosses it to him.........that play right?

It usually netted nice gains.
Actually more of a he (or Malcomb...) chips someone and then releases into the middle. Basically a "post up" 5 yards down field. And it's a "if nothing else works" play.....but safe.

I don't think he was as gelatinous as Kupp. Kupp's gelatinousness level is higher.

Kupp is the best route runner this team has had since Bruce. When you watch him on replays giving a little shimmy or head fake he gets the DB pretty much every time.
The guy is really good and I especially love how he fights for extra yardage after the catch. He does that little fake like he's going out of bounds and then gets another few yards or more.

Also, someone mentioned this in another forum but they thought that Gurley had to stay in to block a lot this game...

Another thing McVay can call to shake things up are delayed hand offs from shotgun. If teams got 6 on the line plus a linebacker and are dropping random players into coverage or are overloading, it's going to be an easy 7-8 yard gain. Might be a play well suited for Henderson.

He was more ubiquitous and... mendacious and polyglottal ... with a side of donkey balls.

(who gets that reference?)

Daniel Jones passes the "eye test" and 'it factor". I like Jared Goff "We'll see"
Use the word "tractor" and you have the trifecta of good sounding but nonsense evaluation terms. Add in "swag" for bonus points to prove you're really just guessing.

There is no question that the Browns have talent. Enough to be a hard team to beat. But they have yet to learn to play as a team. That is the striking difference between the Rams and Browns and that is where the coaching difference is. The culture that McVay and his staff have fostered is the big difference.

This teams secondary all 4 starters were out we should have anillated this team and we didn't which does not bode well against better teams.

I agree Goff could've made better decisions and for McVay to find alternate running plays earlier than later, but with that being being said, The Browns are not stupid. They did all they could to protect those DB's and did a good job. It is difficult to pick them apart when they put 6 defenders on the line threatening to rush from every gap on the line, have the DB's show man coverage and then drop into Zone after the snap. It's a lot easier said then done.
