I'm sticking with my overall plan;
Use that number 36 overall pick on the best plug and play OLB who has the best natural pass rush ability or if there's a stud plug and play Center sitting there, you have to take him.

At number 69 you take the type of player you couldn't get in the second round of a EDGE or Center.

And the rest of the draft you go best player available concentrating on cornerback.

Re-sign Nsheke and go with him and Alaric Jackson at LT.

I would give Shelton first string snaps at Center being backed up by injury prone Brian Allen.
Re-sign Skura and see how he can do with a full training camp under his belt.

Let the Guards battle it out in Camp.

The nice thing about having multiple significant areas of need is they don't have to screw around in the draft. There's a good chance the value player sitting on their board when they're on the clock is a position of need. Whatever that is take him.

Could be corner, edge, tackle, center, safety, tight end, running back, wideout even. Doubt wideout will be the value btw simply because of teams prioritizing threats in the pass game, but regardless they can take that player who is the highest on their board as there is always that player it's just a question of whether they want to take him or slide down and take the other options they target in the range they think they have value. This year maybe they have a guy sitting there on the board who is notable in his value (i.e. in this case a first round value when it comes to that early second rounder) and they can just take him since it will immediately help us.

I wouldn't chance it as that gives more opportunity for someone to jump us as well. Remember Bobby Wagner.
Yeah, it's risky. Would depend who else is there and how big a drop there is to the #2 center that they like. And of course if they feel they need one to start this yr since they may keep Shelton and move him there.

Posted this on coaching changes, but this is we’re a discussion FIRST NEEDS to be!! My first post on here was an exciting time of CHANGE!! I’ve also have made it a point to get a feel for The Rams each season even before they MOVED & FISHER & CO LIED about what the future of The Rams were going to be & was not able to post here about it.
—I’ve been a poster here since The HAMMER came over here from the St. Louis dispatch. Dude knew every player coming into the draft. Would post 500 hundred players coming out.
—I’ve been a draft-nik since Kipper posted his opening ideas on say USA or NFL(football) weekly ? Even before that I was at UCI (Jackie Slatter days) & always want to do The Blair Field thing.
— I would have made it big in SPORTS,I blame my mom only because I was held back. To any father(parent) out there that wants 1 piece of advice from a person that never has had a kid. Always let a KID(person) follow there Dreams & support them. Add there is a fine line of growth & giving. PUNISHMENT & TAKING away something that MEANS a lot to them is exactly that. MEAN - just for a concept.

I’ll just leave my post as this. I’ll get back posting later, but put up 2 story I found about coaching & my explanation of Rams CORE of where imo the team is at?

I liked this article, because it is part of what I believe is true. I will add to it,big time !! Just because it is more than just Aaron Kromer.
I will look into a USC & Fresno connection to see if any of my thoughts maybe true ?

The Los Angeles Rams will have to get somewhat creative to free up cap space this offseason, which includes moving on from players on the current roster. Ahead of free agency, PFF’s Brad Spielberger listed Brian Allen as a potential cut candidate for the Rams this offseason.

Spielberger’s reasoning for Allen’s potential release is connected to his inability to remain healthy.

Allen has $1 million in 2023 salary already guaranteed, and $2 million more is set to become fully guaranteed on March 19, but the Rams may not let that happen after Allen had another season derailed by injury — unfortunately, a familiar situation with the talented center who can quickly get to the second level as a zone run blocker.

Since the 2020 season, Allen has missed 26 games for the Rams due to injury. With Allen’s inability to remain healthy, the Rams may elect to release him before $2 million becomes guaranteed on March 19.

If Allen were to be released before June 1, the Rams would create $2.01 million in cap savings while accruing $4.2 million in dead cap. On the other hand, cutting Allen after June 1 would free up $4.4 million while taking on $1.8 million in dead cap.

Besides his injury issues and contract, Coleman Shelton could potentially hit free agency this offseason, so the Rams could prioritize bringing him back over keeping Allen. With the Rams expected to make alterations to the roster in the coming months, they could have a new center snapping the ball to Matthew Stafford in 2023.

Offensive Line Rams ‘Biggest’ Offseason Need?

BY HARRISON RENO SPORTS ILLUSTRATED LA RAMS NEWS, ANALYSIS AND MORE UPDATED FEBRUARY 20, 2023 8:53 AM
1676916878145.png

Will boosting the offensive line be key to the Los Angeles Rams getting back in the playoffs in 2023? It may be hard to identify the "biggest need" for the Los Angeles Rams after a 5-12 season decimated with multiple key players' injuries. From Cooper Kupp and Matthew Stafford, before even star defensive tackle Aaron Donald had his season shut down.

But when Pro Football Focus (PFF) went back to the season opener against the Buffalo Bills, they found that the Rams allowed seven sacks and 23 pressures, which can be used as evidence that maybe the brunt of the problems offensively stemmed up front on the offensive line.

In hindsight, that statistic should've been an early red flag for the Rams offensively. The 31-10 opening loss to the Bills starkly contrasted with where Los Angeles ended their Super Bowl-winning season. In the 23-20 win over the Cincinnati Bengals, the trenches helped win it all for the Rams. Offensively, the Rams allowed just one sack and five pressures in the winning effort. While defensively, they sacked Joe Burrow five times and pressured him 22 times.

Without a first-round draft pick in this April's upcoming NFL Draft, the Rams will likely have to target linemen through free agency and in the later rounds of the draft.

Rams 2022 starting OL vs. the probable 2023 starting OL

OL coach Carberry / assistant Skyler Jones depart / Newly Hired Ryan Wendell & Zac Kromer as OL coaches.

Highly unlikely that both starting 2022 OG's (Edwards/Shelton) will not be here on the roster in 2023. In addition, 2022 starting LT Noteboom will not be healthy enough to start either. When he is healthy enough to play OT it would be a very good decision to have him be in the Swing OT reserve position & not a starter. Plus 2022 starting OC Allen stands to be a strong candidate to be a cap casualty due to being constantly injured & missing games.

No doubt that very BIG changes from 2022 starting Ol will take place!:bullseye:

Was a big supporter of Allen the last few years but, I was very disappointed with his lack of availability last year. It started with him not having surgery right after the SB to clean up his knee. Instead he put it off until the first game proved he was not ready. I have to put some of that on the team, they should have been more aggressive about getting it done.

From that point on 22 was a wasted season for him and except for his contract and the lack of draft capital he should be gone.

I don’t see how he can be counted on and there are several OCs in the top of the draft who could be viable replacements.

Just SAD the neglect The Rams & confidence they had in 2021.It was totally obvious what they needed.
—Last season as well, because The Rams needed a veteran O”Lineman to at least replace Big Whitworth.Corbett was going to cost to much & Bobby Evans just STUNK!
To think either Brewer or Anchrum were going to make a difference was wishful thinking.
Bruss ? Wtf - Mcvay getting all nervous & stressed out on a 4th TD pick(whatever rd.?). Act like you’ve been through a draft & 1 player was going to make such a difference & have it blowup in your face stinks.
My guess is to cleanup the mess (house) & put things in order.I have no handle on what’s up at all really. with what needs to be done?
Havienstien went back to his old ways of not protecting against Edge rushers. I’d still go back to thinking about him as a RG.So him game film of Lance Dickerson.
A’Jackson might be better there, but I guess he thinks he is best at LG & will be the starter.
Bruss ? Shelton is the best option at Center right now?

:pointup:This is my projection right now.
What a mess!!! The fact that both Dickerson & Humpries were starters in the Superbowl IMO shows what good scouting & excellent Offensive Line play can do for a NFL’s future.
Travis Frederick with Dallas was an excellent example of what a good Center can do for a O”Line .

—Point being having at least a 315 lb. Center guard makes a BIG Difference. Those EXTRA 15-20 LBS is IMPORTANT!!

I loved what Austin Blythe did for The Rams.Shelton as well in 2022 for a Second. To have a 300lb. Guard is SILLY though.
—Brian Allen was always going to be just a center.LMAO -that Bonify’d or The Rams for that matter would think otherwise.
—John Sullivan showed how undersized he was dropping 50 lbs just like that. He would have killed himself trying to put that Weight back on.
—I look at 2021 & have to think WTF were The Rams thinking again though?

This will forever be my thing though. I’m not one who was ever doubting The Rams draft picks with(saying it)McSNEAD!!

Going into 2021 The Rams had Brian Allen who was The 1st NFL player to have gotten COVID if anyone wants to look back.

The Rams had Whitworth figuring out his Future.BTW Austin Blythe was The Rams starting Center & Brian Allen had sat out 2019& 2022 basically? The Rams let Blythe walk to KC.

The Rams thought Austin Corbett could play Center(LMAO) he was basically a LT at San Jose State.Maybe At Cleveland they thought were else can we play him.Traded him for a 5th rd pick. Just saying he was The Rams Best Guard!!!
—Bobby Evans was the backup Guard who would have started at RG(LMAO).
Point being- drafting Tutu Atwell was never The Problem!! It was NOT ADDRESSING the O”Line once 5 Free Agents were Gone!!
—Drafting Brussss was NOT The Problem!! It was thinking a Player with NO NFL EXPERIENCE could come in and START!!
—Point being BUILDING through The Draft is a Process. The Rams got lucky IMO with A’Jackson who if say David Edwards & Brian Allen both stayed Healthy. RG would have been filled with a player EVERYONE thought was maybe The Rams Backup or starting LT of the Future.

—How this gets solved is the issue. Can it ? YES. I’m not a Bruss Fan only because of NEVER proving he is The Rams starting GUARD.

BTW- Lewis,Hollins,or Chris Garrett worked out?
Point being drafting that Swing OT is going to be hard? The Rams need an Edge.
OT(LT) & Edge(DE) are those Core 1st rd picks that make Franchises Great for Years.

What dang said:
LT AJax
LG Nate Davis or Dalton Risner (FA)
R2 Draft Pick
RG Anchrum or Bruss
RT Hav

(y)

Signing a UFA veteran OG has merit due to the very big issue as to what the Rams have currently @ OG. Rams will need to find some cap space funds somewhere.

The Rams have only 2 OG's signed at this time. Neither of them has any NFL experience, if the Rams do go with a rookie draft selection to start @ center that starting Ram's interior OL would be the most inexperienced interior OL in Ram's history.

The Rams OL went into the Bill games with the set OL plan for only 8 players 2022.

LT-Noteboom / Jackson/ Nsekhe
LG-Edwards/ Evans / Skura
OC-Allen / Shelton /Kolone/ Allen /Shelton
RG-Shelton /Anchrum / Jackson/ Brewer/ Aboushi/ Brewer
RT-Havenstein

The Rams starting OL would not return to plan for the rest of the season. The Rams "Run It Back" retooled planned OL starters .....permitted 7 sacks!

Center Allen went down very early with a knee injury. Shelton Shifted inside & Swing OG reserve Anchrum replaced Shelton @ RG for his first NFL action. Wk-2 Anchrum broke his leg on the first snap. OT Jackson started his 1st NFL game @ RG. Edwards was injured in wk 4 & Bobby Evans became a Ram starter. next week center Shelton was injured and entered Kolone. Then the LT Noteboom major injury in wk#6. On and on......UNBELIEVABLE!

We will see here shortly what the Rams org does with UFA center Shelton & unreliable often injured center Allen. This will give us an idea of what is in store for the Rams in free agency.
