Based off Campbell's remarks after last week, I fully expect to see Goff out of the game by halftime. The Rams are going to eviscerate this team and Blough is going to get his chance
They'll be down 21-0 by the middle of the 2Q. Likely we'll have seen Goff sacked a couple times, a bunch of 3 and outs and possibly a turnover or two. It's going to be a massacre and after Campbell's comments, he surely wont feel loyal to JGSure, if he can pry the ball out of Goff's cold dead hands.
Barring injury, Goff will play the entire game.
And my guess is that Campbell will be looking very closely at how much he rises to the occasion of playing against his former team.

I don’t think they score 20 on the Rams unless McVay lets off the gas on defense. The Lions have far too many injuries.Prisco's NFL Week 7 picks: Lions' Jared Goff keeps it close vs. former team;
Detroit Lions (+15) at Los Angeles Rams
Latest Odds:Los Angeles Rams -15
The Lions are winless and coming off their worst loss of the year. The Rams blew out the Giants last week and clearly are the better team. This will match Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford against his former team and Lions quarterback Jared Goff against his former team. The problem is Goff doesn't have enough firepower to keep up. But the Lions will hang around.
Pick: Rams 27, Lions 20

It's good sci-fi. A rarity in 21st century Hollywood.Although it was kinda stupid, I enjoyed that movie
I would have agreed, but I found out about the Oline injuries and sacks allowed for the Lions. Then I noticed how much the Rams pass rush has been turned up. Floyd, Donald, Lewis and Obo are going to be a load for a few backups and a rookie to handle.Goddamn I hate when I agree with Prisco.
I rewatched the entire season recently. I know Blythe wasn’t good but I think he shoulders too much of the blame for Goff’s failures. Some of that is true, but I don't think anyone can argue that he made Blythe look worse while one can easily argue that the reverse is true. The fact that the Rams let Blythe walk with no sure replacement at the time speaks volumes. And nobody anywhere on the spectrum of the QB debate can say they would be happy going into this season with Stafford taking snaps from Blythe. Goff wasn't good most of the time last year, but he sure as hell got absolutely no help at all from the center position.
He should have thrown it right to a covered player and hoped for a brain fart, or a completion. He should have thrown it downfield and hoped that it was intercepted...That would have been far preferable to what he did...Turning it over on downs intentionally is just freaking stupid...Of course if the defenders had an I.Q. higher than a radish, they wouldn't catch it but it had a better chance than his choice...
Well, this WR crew isnt about motivation, it is literally the worst grouping I've ever seen. And that includes USFL, XFL and AAFL rosters. 5 guys who were UDFA from D1aa schools. Wouldnt hold my breath on Brockers either being he's part of a D that gave up 2 full field, <30 second to play comebacks costing 2 wins. The team is a total train wreck. Not sure what kind of wheels Blough has, but maybe if he can scramble around a bit he might be able to make a play or two that Goff cantI hope the Rams win big, but I struggle to just make the competition an afterthought. I look no further to the Jets game of last year.
These are still grown men with some pride and if Goff can't motivate them to higher heights maybe Brockers can.
I totally get Goff's payback. You seriously think it's going to be that close??
Goff isn't the only QB to be playing the payback game.
Mr Stafford will be on point.
And you're wasting your time telling others their wasting theirs. Vicious cycle - eh?The goal posts are where they are. People have made their stances quite clear at this point on what they think needs to happen as a result of this trade. Y'all are wasting your time rehashing that fight. Let sleeping dogs lie. Enjoy the season.

It was incredible. Especially knowing the Thunderbirds that put it on. Hence why I was in the same section as Jared. That sounds like a good time, but also a bad time.
That teams WRs were still better than this groups WRsI hope for the best, but I still refuse to underestimate the competition. Year ago, I remember watching a Rams team, with A.J. Feely at QB, that finished with a 2-14 record defeat a New Orleans Saints team that finished with a 13-3 record and won the Super Bowl .
Any given Sunday.

Agreed I don't think Goff gets benched mid game unless he has something crazy like 5 straight turnovers. I do worry for Goff's health though behind that line with no receivers and possibly no Hockenson... or at least not a 100% Hockenson. Might not be us that knocks him out but he's going to absorb a shit ton of hits over the next month. For his sake I hope Ragnow can come back sooner than later.I can see him getting pulled if/when Stafford does, but do you really think they'll be throwing in the towel by the half? Loyalty or not, Blough doesn't give them a better shot to win, it's basically giving up. I also think that Campbell's comments are being taken out of context a bit, he understands that Goff has nothing around him to work with, I think it's more of a motivational thing than a "he's being threatened with benching" thing. Goff is one of their best players simply by virtue of them being so thin everywhere else, they don't have another option available.
They're hoping to get 2-3 years from him and replace him with a draft pick, that much seems obvious, but Blough certainly isn't their guy and doesn't increase their odds to victory. They need to get some talent on that roster in a bad way, it's going to take time. This is a total rebuiild.
Great post as always, and true to form you're being a bit more level headed than I.I can see him getting pulled if/when Stafford does, but do you really think they'll be throwing in the towel by the half? Yes but Goff didn't deserve criticism from the coach in 2017 or 2018. He deserves credit instead for playing well in that window and it's why the Rams paid him in fact.Great post as always, and true to form you're being a bit more level headed than I.
I take more out of that presser than you, its the @AvengerRam comp to Rex Ryan (which I find spot on) that has my mind spinning. His team is garbage, everyone knows it. And any team would have a mental let down after a loss like the Vikings game, especially on the heels of the Baltimore game. So for him to come out on any level critical of his team is just bad form. Heck, it took McVay almost 4 years to criticize Goff, not games. So I think he's got the "I'll show you you" mentality. And it might actually work for a series or two.
Just a terrible spot for any QB to be put in. Truly unfair.
Any QBs in this year's draft even considered a 1st pick of the draft? I really haven't heard of any.Yes but Goff didn't deserve criticism from the coach in 2017 or 2018. He deserves credit instead for playing well in that window and it's why the Rams paid him in fact.
So in terms of how long it took McVay to criticize him I'd say he waited a little over a year, that year being the 2019 season and early 2020 season. During that year I'm sure they tried to work out the kinks (they being both coach and QB) but the relationship and the play on the field both continued to degrade.
What Goff needs to do is bust his ass to fix the turnovers. Even on a bad team if you can limit those turnovers and give that team its best chance to win folks around the league will recognize it and when Detroit drafts their QB of the future (which is coming) maybe a good team comes calling. But if Goff continues to disintegrate and dispense footballs to defenses the team he ends up with will probably be one of the shittier opportunities.
