Main takeaway with Bennett is he's capable of doing good things. Like that back shoulder throw he made, that was something. He's just got shit to clean up. Get him more reps next game too I hope, as they're very valuable.

I would hope he is capable of doing good things otherwise why would he be here? The question is can he consistently be very good? Will he be limited somewhat? Can he see the field? Can he make all the big time throws needed? Can he hold up when under duress?

Time will tell. Rookies have wide variance game to game which is why you don't want them starting. He falls into that even if he were to play great all through preseason. Once you're out there getting gameplanned for your weaknesses it gets tougher and tougher on these guys too. So if he has to start this season we're up shit creek.

We'll see if he learns fast from his mistakes though. Hoping next week he plays sharp.

Hummel finally
He did a good job catching and returning it for a TD but it isn’t like he jumped the route and had good coverage. That interception was made possible by a complete brain fart throw right to him. Hummel also made one other decent play on a screen pass making a tackle for no gain. But he was abused on several key plays on the first 2 drives. He has a loooooong way to go to be NFL roster worthy.

I never said he was good or is going to be good. I just staed he finally made a play. I've stated multiple times that outside of Jones are ILB are trash including Hummel :laugh4:

I know some of these guys are going to get cut.... But going into Seattle in a couple of weeks gives me little hope of a victory, at this point. I hope I'm wrong.

If you're into watching young players improve quarter of a season by quarter of a season (it sure won't be game to game), you can have a good time this year. But if you want the Rams to beat the 6.5 over/under this year, you're gonna have a bad time.

Did anyone hear after the announcer saying - that face mask to Rivers wasn't like the face mask to Goff against New Orleans but it was still a face mask and then Big Whit - "aw - there weren't any penalties in the fourth quarter in that game"

I laughed my ass off

I’m watching this on Game Pass (live kick off was 02:00 here) and I’ve just reached the Raiders’ pick six.

We need to find the guy who threw the beer can onto the field. He’s clearly got a good arm and could be our QB3.

I seem to remember a lot of us wanted the Rams to draft that QB O'Connell. He looks like the best QB in the draft class by far.

What are you talking about? He recognized the concept, dropped under the route, and picked it off. It was a PA fake. As soon as Hummel saw it was PA, he bailed quickly to exactly where Hoyer was going to throw it. That is both jumping the route and good coverage.

QB play in the NFC looks weak this year. We have Stafford, McVay, Kupp, and Donald. If those dudes stay healthy (obviously, excepting McVay), we'll win 7 games. If the OL manages to be above average and the defense can be middle of the pack, we'll win more than that.

Totally agree. He really made some pinpoint NFL throws and reads.

Did he have a few throws late or off - YES.

It's preseason game 2 for a rookie QB playing with mostly 3rd string WR's.

I thought he showed, once again, lots of promise. Compare him to these other Rookie QBs and he is way ahead.

When we looks at QB's career archs even hall of famers, it's truly silly to judge any rookie QB in preseason.

Jake Hummel played at Iowa State.

Iowa State doesn't produce NFL players.

I'm an Iowa Hawkeye fan, I see enough of the little brother cyclones.

They're soft

I didn't like when we signed him, and still don't.

He's an identical Troy Reeder.
Super Bowl & Best D 2021 so F-OFF! Troy Reeder was solid & a WINNER for TheRams
